Today the Minister of the Presidency, Carlos Romero accused some TIPNIS leaders for “land and wood trafficking.” As reported by Los Tiempos in its website at 14:21 hours today. In his analysis, Romero believes that it is because of those issues that some leaders do not want to engage in full dialogue with the government.
Romero gave the names of Alejandro Yuco, President for the Sub-central TIPNIS; Santiago Virinoe, secretary for organization and communication, sub-central Sécure Tipnis; Pedro Gonzalo Vare Yujo, “former TIPNIS president, and this moment secretary for natural resources for TIPNIS and many other people who sign as sellers.” Romero also said that this leaders aim at havign control over the ABT office (Forest and Teritory Authority) so they can cover up those illegal activities.
Romero went on saying “the timber company that buys, that signs this transaction is the logging company SURI, represented by Juan Carlos Meneses and Quintín Pérez Antelo, as buyers.” Romero also said that “…they have been moving leaders, rather, have been facilitating the transportation of Isiboro Sécure indigenous people to the protest walk.”
When asked about why they’re making this public now, Romero said that there are processes that must go on under administrative or judicial system and that he did not want to treat them as part of this protest walk. Minister also said that the doors for the dialogue are still open, the government is awaiting for their proposal.
