Only when the environmental study is completed, TIPNIS road portion will be authorized said the Brazilian Ambassador. For now, only disbursements will be done for the I and III portions of the road; the II part remains questioned. The road through the TIPNIS, will have to wait until the consultation process determines what to do. Such is the condition of the Brazilian government for the road financing. As stated by Brazilian Ambassador Marcel Biato.
Current Bolivian president persists stating that road will be completed by 2014 and that TIPNIS indigenous people should come to their senses. Ministry of the Presidency, Carlos Romero said the government does not know officially of that Brazilian posture; when that happens the government will be in a position to make a statement. The opposition is suggesting that a Referendum should take place about National Parks and forestry reserves.
Indigenous TIPNIS groups are receiving support from other lowlands groups such as the CIBOD, OICH. They say will begin negotiations with the government only after the protest march starts on August 15, 2011.

This Cartoon is from La Prensa (Aug 4, 2011), it uses the AVATAR theme to portray the TIPNIS irresponsible case… stakeholders are taking over! I hope road goes around the TIPNIS!
[Today around 7:30am, Panamericana radio interviewed a Congressman (from Cochabamba, did not catch his name, sorry) saying that he knew that the estimated cost per kilometer for this road was set at around $1.3 million dollars; while standards for those type of roads are around 700 thousand dollars per kilometer of road construction]
