According to the president of Solacyt, both young men have become regional references due to the strong results obtained in global and continental robotics tournaments in recent years.

Students from Santa Cruz, Yulin Jorge and Yu Long Ricardo Wang Jallaza, stood out in the national science and technology competition Robomatrix South America–Bolivia 2026, held in La Paz, where they were also recognized for their international track record and for becoming leading figures in robotics in the region.

The event, organized by the Latin American Society of Science and Technology (Solacyt), brought together students from primary school to university level, with participants from different departments of Bolivia and international delegations from Mexico, Ecuador, and Puerto Rico.

The president of Solacyt, Manuel Fernando Guzmán Muñoz, explained to EL DEBER that the activity was part of two major academic gatherings: the Infomatrix competition, focused on the presentation of scientific and technological projects, and the Robomatrix event, centered on robotics competitions.

“We held the twentieth edition of the Infomatrix science and technology projects competition and, in parallel, the 15th edition of RoboMatrix, which is a robotics competition whose South America–Bolivia final closed the 15th cycle,” Guzmán said in a phone interview from Mexico.

During two days of competition, more than 50 projects were presented in the Infomatrix category and nearly 200 robots competed in Robomatrix events, with teams from Santa Cruz, Potosí, Oruro, Cochabamba, and Sucre.

The Solacyt delegate in Santa Cruz, Yulin Jorge Wang Jallaza, indicated that the competition was national in scope, although it also included foreign delegations.

“It is a national competition where participants from all over the country have been seen, as well as from other countries such as Mexico, Ecuador, and Puerto Rico,” he explained.

Recognition of young people from Santa Cruz

Within the framework of the event, the organization also presented a special recognition to the Santa Cruz brothers Jorge Wang Jallaza and Yu Long Ricardo Wang Jallaza, who have represented Bolivia in international robotics tournaments held in Spain and in various states of Mexico.

According to the president of Solacyt, both young men have become regional references due to the strong results obtained in global and continental robotics tournaments in recent years.

“They are already a reference in South America because they have achieved significant results in international competitions and have placed Bolivia among the top positions in robotics. For that reason, Solacyt has awarded them a recognition,” Guzmán emphasized.

One of the main figures of the competition was the student from Colegio Británico Santa Cruz, Yu Long Ricardo Wang Jallaza, who competed in various robotics categories and obtained 13 medals, including gold, silver, and bronze.

Among his most outstanding results are first places in master maze, amateur line follower, master minisumo, RC minisumo, and all-terrain robotics, as well as several second and third places in other categories.

“I feel very proud and excited to have been able to win consecutively again and to have been recognized by the Latin American Society of Science and Technology,” the student said.

Rumbo a competencias internacionales
