  • The country, from its Andean peaks to its Amazonian plains, is home to countless species that are suffering from the degradation of their habitats and ecosystems.

In 2024, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Asociación Armonía identified 478 threatened species, meaning that one out of every ten known species faces the risk of extinction. The threats are classified as critically endangered (CR) 63, endangered (EN) 145, and vulnerable (VU) 270.

According to international organizations, Bolivia’s paradoxical situation—ranked among the 15 to 20 countries with the greatest biological diversity in the world—faces an alarming threat of extinction affecting its fauna and flora.

Bolivia, from its immeasurable Andean peaks and Amazonian plains, is home to countless species that suffer from the degradation of their habitats and ecosystems, threatening wildlife.
