AFTER THE DETENTION OF THE FORMER MINISTER

Yassir Molina to Del Castillo: “It’s time for you to pay for everything you’ve done”

Yassir spoke out through a video.

The former leader of the Resistencia Juvenil Cochala, Yassir Molina, said that Eduardo Del Castillo, following his detention, now has to pay for the actions he committed while he was part of the government. He alleged that the former minister ordered reprisals and even torture against political prisoners.

“You ordered that they not give us food, that they not give us water, that they keep us being tortured in Block C of the El Abra penitentiary facilities, where inhumane conditions are lived, or when you ordered an attempt on my life in the Cantumarca penitentiary facility in Potosí. Everything that is done is paid for,” he said in a video posted on social media.

“I do not take joy in the suffering of your family; on the contrary, I send them strength, but it is time for you to pay for everything you have done,” he added.

Molina was apprehended when Del Castillo was minister, accused of vandalizing the headquarters of the Attorney General’s Office and for the events of 2019, when he led the Cochala Resistance during the post-election conflict.

He accused Del Castillo of ordering acts of torture against him, as well as against his colleague Fabio Bascopé, whose health is deteriorated.

“How ironic life is, isn’t it? That now Mr. Eduardo del Castillo supposedly has his rights violated, when it was he who ordered that we political prisoners be tortured, that Fabio Bascopé and I be transferred with more than 25 guards, prohibiting us from seeing our families, prohibiting food and water from being given to us, when he ordered that in the city of Oruro I be tortured, that I not be allowed to leave my cell, that I had to relieve myself in a bag,” he said.

He stated that, because of Del Castillo, they were prevented from approaching their families and he was even denied the right to marry, under intimidation of the officer who intended to comply with that judicial order.

“How life is, isn’t it? I do not rejoice in the suffering your family is going through; on the contrary, it pains me deeply because I have personally experienced the abuses you committed against all of us. Under the pretext that it was not revenge but justice, you made the Ministry of Government join countless proceedings, not only against the Resistencia Juvenil Cochala, but against many political prisoners,” he reiterated.

He accused the former minister of having benefited from “shady deals” to finance his campaign, defending drug traffickers and later reneging on those arrangements.

Del Castillo was detained by police when he tried to leave the country from the Viru Viru airport. Initially, he was accused of obstructing airport controls and was taken to the offices of the FELCC.
