A delusional Vice President Breaks with Paz | Un vicepresidente enajenado rompe con Paz

The rift between Paz and Lara deepens, and the Vice President digs in at his office

The Vice President said that Paz Pereira governs only for the rich and is breaking his promise not to indebt the country. He claimed he has been sidelined and that a case is being put together against him at the Ministry of Government.

One month and eight days after starting the new government together, on Tuesday night the rift between President Rodrigo Paz Pereira and Vice President Edmand Lara deepened. The latter accused the Head of State of governing only for the rich, of indebting the country for the benefit of a few, of having isolated him by activating a Vice Ministry that replaces his functions, of using patronage in the Legislature, and even of assembling, from the Ministry of Government, a case against him.

In response, he announced that from the Vice Presidency he will continue fighting to put an end to corruption and asked legislators who still support him to accompany him in this battle.

As is his custom, he did so through a message posted on his TikTok account, hours after the resignation of his general director, Jaime Soliz, who argued that he could not endorse the fragmentation among the branches of the State.

“Together with Rodrigo Paz we promised the country not to indebt it any further; Rodrigo Paz himself said he would not extend his hand to ask for loans, he criticized Tuto Quiroga’s proposal to indebt the country, and now the one who is indebting the country the most is Rodrigo Paz. Unfortunately, in rigged sessions, with backroom deals in between, offering positions, directorships, and privileges to some deputies, they have approved loans that Rodrigo Paz himself, when he was a senator, rejected,” Lara denounced.

He said the loans are approved with pretexts such as health, when in reality the objective is “to enrich a few” and “the most powerful,” leaving the poor even poorer. He also condemned the elimination of the wealth tax, since in his view the only beneficiaries are, again, the richest.

“Today Rodrigo Paz is governing for those who have the most, and he is governing under the orders of Samuel Doria Medina. Like it or not, Samuel Doria Medina is governing the country; he appoints the ministers, he gives the orders, he controls Customs, he controls the ministries, the most important directorates in the country,” he asserted, referring to allies of the leader of the Unidad alliance who hold senior government posts.

He then went further and said he received information that the Minister of Government, Marco Antonio Oviedo, ordered a case to be built against him using a police officer who is currently his aide and who previously took part in dark cases such as the massacre at the Hotel Las Américas. In light of this, he said he will continue his fight against corruption from the Vice Presidency.

“What hurts me is that I can’t do anything, I can’t do anything because they cornered me; what’s more, they appointed a vice minister who now carries out my functions, but from the Vice Presidency and from the role I have always had of fighting corruption, regardless of what happens, I will continue fighting and denouncing corruption. I will not be silent,” he announced.
