Various economic sectors have spoken out in recent hours to congratulate Bolivia’s virtual president-elect, Rodrigo Paz Pereira, while expressing their willingness for dialogue and joint work to seek solutions to various problems.

One of them was the Eastern Agricultural Chamber (CAO), which seeks to have a meeting with Paz as soon as possible to place six urgent topics for the sector on the table.

Full legal security, an end to land invasions, authorization for the use of biotechnology, unrestricted exports with no quotas or limitations, elimination of the price bands that currently apply to certain products, and permanent fuel availability are the matters that the agricultural sector wants to discuss with Paz immediately.

“Given the urgency of the sector, of the country, and the economic and productive emergency we are currently in, we invite our new president, Rodrigo Paz, to a meeting with the entire national productive sector to coordinate the immediate actions the country needs,” said Klaus Frerking, president of the Eastern Agricultural Chamber (CAO).

The entity also expects that when choosing his cabinet, Paz will appoint to the Ministries of Rural Development and Productive Development individuals who understand the reality of the country’s agricultural sector.

“Bolivia is going through a complex moment. The economy needs to change course, regain confidence and dynamism. In that process, the Bolivian countryside will be an indispensable ally. From agricultural production is born the real possibility of generating foreign currency, employment and food — essential pillars for national recovery,” the CAO stressed.

Cainco proposes building consensus and a new economic model

Through a message, Jean Pierre Antelo, president of the Santa Cruz Chamber of Industry and Commerce (Cainco), congratulated Rodrigo Paz and underscored that the country is entering a new stage that must be marked by dialogue, responsibility and a shared vision of the country — of building bridges, forging broad consensus, and applying a new economic model based on people’s potential, productivity, innovation and openness to the world.

“The private sector is ready to work with the new government, because Bolivia’s development will be built by joining forces, attracting investment, with jobs, with confidence and with clear rules,” Antelo emphasized.

Cainco’s president acknowledges that the road will not be easy. “It is time to reconnect on what is essential: certainty, opportunity, transparency and above all pride in being Bolivian,” Antelo added, stressing that this is a time to start over — but it must be done together.
