On Monday, Juan Pablo Velasco, vice-presidential candidate for the Libre Alliance, accepted the debate proposed last week by Edman Lara, the Christian Democratic Party (PDC) candidate.

“What do you say if this Wednesday at noon in the Abasto market, we sit down at a little market stall, just you and me, with two chairs, to debate and talk about the problems of Bolivians?” said Velasco in a video shared on his social media.

The PDC candidate suggested the encounter take place without political teams and broadcast through TikTok cameras on social media.

“To find common ground and talk about the most important thing—how we are going to solve the problems of Bolivians,” Velasco emphasized.

Last week, Captain Lara had posted a video on social media in which he accepted the debate with Velasco, suggesting it be held at Abasto market in Santa Cruz.

“Let’s go down to the grassroots, let’s go to Abasto market, let’s sit on a bench at the market, face-to-face with the people,” Lara stated.
