The selling price of digital dollars is favorable for payers, and the payment experience is similar to any app in Bolivia, according to Meru co-founder Carlos Neira.

Meru has introduced to the Bolivian market an innovative QR payment method in bolivianos, using dollars stored in its digital wallet. Users can carry out transactions instantly and securely at any Bolivian business that accepts QR payments.

“Users can spend their digital dollars with just a QR code, and merchants immediately receive the equivalent in bolivianos. The selling price of digital dollars is favorable for the payer, and the payment experience is similar to any other app in Bolivia,” said Meru co-founder Carlos Neira.

He added that the process is very simple: users go to the Withdraw section of the Meru app, select the option to Pay with QR in bolivianos, the phone’s camera activates to scan the code, and the transaction is completed once confirmed.

“These transactions meet all technical and security requirements of financial institutions that offer QR payments. Merchants cannot tell whether the payment was made through Meru or another banking application,” Neira explained.

According to him, Meru is currently the most accessible and secure digital wallet in the Latin American market, gaining strong acceptance in Bolivia since the start of its operations.
