Athletes from several departments of the country and from abroad will compete in the third stop of the 2025 season

With the participation of more than 80 runners, the Columbia Skyrace Sajama will be held this Saturday as the third event of the 2025 National Skyrunning Championship, featuring athletes from different parts of the country and from abroad.
“We will have the third stage of the season in Sajama National Park, located in the northeastern corner of Oruro department, Sajama province, on the border with Chile,” said Paolo Choque, director of Skyrunning Bolivia, in a press release from the organization.
He added, “Within this park, runners will be able to enjoy the wetlands and queñua forests. A unique feature will be the start of the 8-kilometer distance, which will take place at the geysers, offering a spectacular beginning to this race. The finish line will be at the hot springs, providing a different kind of closure to the mountain race.”
At the time of the start, the temperature is expected to be -5 degrees Celsius, while at the finish it will be around 7 degrees.
Runners who have confirmed their participation are from Santa Cruz, Cochabamba, Potosí, and Oruro. There will also be international athletes from Russia, Argentina, and Spain.
“The Director of Sajama National Park, engineer Gonzalo Gutiérrez Quispe, is opening the park’s doors to promote a key tourist destination in the country, which ranks among the top spots. For this reason, local authorities will also host a gastronomic festival at the end of the race.”

Con la presencia de más de 80 corredores este sábado se desarrollará el Columbia Skyrace Sajama por la tercera fecha del Campeonato Nacional de Skyrunning 2025, que tendrá atletas de diferentes partes del país y del exterior.
“Tendremos la tercera etapa de la temporada en el Parque Nacional Sajama, que se ubica en el extremo noreste del departamento de Oruro, provincia Sajama, frontera con Chile”, dijo Paolo Choque, director de Skyrunning Bolivia”, en una nota de prensa de la entidad.
Agregó que “dentro de este parque los corredores podrán disfrutar de los bofedales, los bosques de queñua. Algo particular será la partida para la distancia de 8 kilómetros, que será en los géiseres dando un espectáculo único de esta carrera. La meta será en las aguas termales cerrando de forma diferente la carrera por montaña”.
Se prevé que al momento de la partida la temperatura sea de -5 grados centígrados, mientras que para la finalización habrá 7 grados.
Los corredores que confirmaron su presencia son de Santa cruz, Cochabamba, Potosí y Oruro. También habrá atletas internacionales como de Rusia, Argentina y España.
“El Director del Parque Nacional Sajama, el ingeniero Gonzalo Gutiérrez Quispe, abre las puertas del parque para promocionar un destino turístico emblemático del país que está entre los primeros lugares por lo cual también autoridades de la región brindarán un festival gastronómico al finalizar la carrera”.
