Carnival 2025 is just around the corner. This event marks the next holiday when all workers in Bolivia will enjoy a break, though there’s a bit of a wait this year, as the much-anticipated celebration won’t take place until March.

Specifically, the Carnival holidays are scheduled for Monday, March 3, and Tuesday, March 4, creating the first “long weekend” of 2025.

Although the holidays fall on these two weekdays, the festivities will begin earlier. On Saturday, March 1, events such as the folkloric parade of the Virgin of the Mineshaft in Oruro and the carnival parade in Santa Cruz de la Sierra will take place. Similar activities will also occur across much of the country on this day.

The celebration will continue on Sunday, March 2, followed by the two official holidays already mentioned.

After Carnival, the next holiday will arrive in April: Good Friday in 2025 will be celebrated on April 18, also providing a “long” weekend with three days of rest.

Other Holidays

May 1, Labor Day, will fall on a Thursday.

Corpus Christi will be celebrated on Thursday, June 19, and just two days later, another holiday will occur. However, as June 21, Andean Amazonian New Year, falls on a Saturday, it will not be transferable.

Independence Day, August 6, will be particularly special this year as it marks 200 years of independence and falls on a Wednesday.

November will bring another “long weekend” with All Souls’ Day on Sunday, November 2. The holiday will be moved to Monday, November 3.

The year will conclude with the Christmas holiday on Thursday, December 25.
