So far, there are about two dozen candidates in the country, both large and small, who want to run in the 2025 elections

The possibility of holding a primary election between opposition candidates to the MAS advanced this Wednesday with the launch of the cell phone application ‘Yo elijo’, which was funded by the former Bolivian foreign minister based in the United States, Ronald Maclean, who made the announcement in a virtual interview.

“I have the application ready, today they confirmed it to me. The app is in the Apple Store and Google Play, that is, everything is in the Amazon cloud. What we have done is a very secure platform, there is no way to manipulate this, that is why it is so expensive, that is why it is so difficult and that is why it has taken so long,” said the former mayor of La Paz on the program Encuentrados.

The application for this purpose was announced by MacLean himself in November of this year, but it was delayed in its inclusion in the digital search engine. Like any application, it is free and requires some requirements such as full name, ID number and optionally the phone number; in addition to a password.

The creator of this application revealed that the cost of the same was higher than $us 50 thousand dollars and that in reality it is an adapted application, that is to say that it was already used and reformed for this case. He explained that for security reasons it was taken down from the cloud more than twice due to the security levels required by Google and Apple Store.

He highlighted the initiative of the sports businessman Marcelo Claure, who also mentioned the possibility of implementing primaries through an application. Likewise, like Claure, MacLean said that the only interest is to achieve uniting the opposition.

“I am interested because we have three, four, or five candidates, maximum, who for 20 years continue to divide the vote, continue to lose elections and continue to hand them over to the MAS, that is why I especially raised the issue of the primaries that what they do is unite the vote and make people decide,” he assured.

So far, there are about two dozen candidates, big and small, who have announced their willingness to run as presidential candidates in the 2025 elections, and the number continues to grow.
