In three weeks of road blockades

  • The Catholic Church, lawmakers, and politicians demand an end to actions driven by personal and partisan interests that have triggered a humanitarian crisis. Road closures result in losses of $2.109 billion.
The roadblock by radical groups supporting Evo Morales continues, causing serious consequences for the Bolivian state.

Following an evaluation of the 21 days of roadblocks in the Tropic of Cochabamba, various sectors of society express concern over the losses incurred by the Bolivian state, the population, and those stranded on the roads, left to fend for themselves. The “masista” struggle for power is plunging Bolivia into poverty, according to opinions.

The Catholic Church, facing the indifference of those promoting blockades, demands an end to these actions motivated by personal and partisan interests that impede free transit and have triggered a humanitarian crisis affecting the entire population.

“Enough of manipulating and sinking our homeland Bolivia into poverty, hunger, and hatred! We will never defend our country with hate. Save us from hatred, our God. The Bolivian nation does not harbor hate,” expressed Monsignor Estanislao Dowlaszewicz, auxiliary bishop of Santa Cruz, during his Sunday homily.

Alejandra Camargo, a member of the Dignity Block in the Comunidad Ciudadana (CC) party, lamented that the multiple crises facing the country have deepened due to the struggle within the ruling party and the blockades of “evismo.” She asserted that this is the result of nearly two decades of poor “masista” decisions and the current authorities’ lack of capability.

Moreover, authorities report that the extreme measures led by Evo Morales have resulted in losses of $2.109 billion across various sectors of the economy, threatening to impact the upcoming agricultural planting campaign and meat production.

Presidential candidate José Carlos Sánchez Verazaín from the Frente Conservador Liberal Boliviano (FCLB) stated that the plans of socialism and its proponents in the country are aimed at impoverishing Bolivians to easily win elections, a situation that should not be allowed. He also asserted that the actions of “masismo,” in all its factions, are malignant and show no respect.
