Argentina’s Minister of Security (Interior), Patricia Bullrich, stated this Saturday that she received the accusation of child abuse against Evo Morales 15 days ago and has already passed it on to the justice system. On social media platform X, the minister warned that “Morales was denounced, and crimes on Argentine soil are punished.”

“We received a report from a private individual regarding Evo Morales’ behavior at the Ministry of Security 15 days ago, and we immediately moved it to the courts; we didn’t publicize it due to the high levels of violence in Bolivia at that time, as we felt it was inappropriate, but this was the first complaint. Now that other complaints have come to light, we are in a position to confirm it,” Bullrich stated in an audio message shared on her X account.

“Along with the ongoing case of child abuse in Bolivia, something even more abhorrent has surfaced: the socialist former Bolivian president is accused of having lived with four teenagers during his political asylum granted by the Kirchner administration,” added the minister.

On Friday, Buenos Aires newspaper Clarín reported that the Apolo Foundation filed a complaint against the coca grower leader. According to documents accessed by the newspaper, various testimonies and sources allege that Morales lived in Argentina (2019-2020) “with minors who were allegedly brought from Bolivia under presumably vulnerable conditions to perform domestic and personal tasks.”

The Argentine minister added, “The worst crime was committed on Argentine soil; therefore, we filed a complaint for alleged human trafficking and sexual abuse.”

“In this Argentina of President Javier Milei, those who commit crimes will pay,” she warned.

The government of Alberto Fernández (2019-2023) granted Morales asylum status after he fled Bolivia following his resignation amid conflicts in October and November 2019. Morales claimed he was the victim of a “coup.”

In Bolivia, the statutory rape case is under investigation in the Tarija Departmental Prosecutor’s Office, where Prosecutor Sandra Gutiérrez announced that “despite threats” and legal actions by Morales’ defense, she will continue to pursue the case.

Morales is under investigation for a case of human trafficking and statutory rape, allegedly fathering a child with an underage girl in 2016. The minor was 15 at the time, adding to other scandals involving the former president and minors, from Gabriela Zapata to Noemí Meneses in 2020, when Morales was residing in Argentina.
