A Fascist Named Evo | Un facho llamado Evo

By Juan José Toro Montoya, Brujula Digital:

Researcher Kevin Passmore defines fascism as “a set of ideologies and practices that seeks to place the nation, defined in exclusive biological, cultural, and/or historical terms, above all other sources of loyalty, and to create a mobilized national community.” Marxists, on the other hand, maintain the definition approved by the Communist Party of the Soviet Union at its 22nd Congress: “it is the open terrorist dictatorship of the most reactionary, chauvinistic, and imperialist elements of financial capital.” If we apply these definitions to the attitudes and conduct of the Movement for Socialism (MAS) from its beginnings, we will conclude that, more than socialist, that political organization is fascist.

The Soviets Mark Moisevich Rosental and Pavel Fyodorovich Ludin added this: “in ideological terms, fascism means extreme irrationalism, chauvinism, and racism, obscurantism, and anti-humanism.” If we use those parameters, we would conclude that Juan Evo Morales Ayma is a fascist.

Let’s examine:

Evo Morales is irrational because, quite simply, he understands no reasons other than his own. He confessed, while president, that if laws are an obstacle, “he goes ahead anyway” because, in his view, lawyers are only useful to adapt the laws to his behavior.

He is chauvinistic because he excessively exalts the national over the foreign, but he does so from a racial perspective; that is, the country is not as important as the nation, which, according to his self-identification, would be the Aymara. This includes the following characteristic, the racism that both he and his followers apply in attempting to impose the supremacy of the indigenous over others.

Obscurantism is the defense of irrational or backward ideas or attitudes that Evo and his followers apply either by peaceful or forceful means, while “anti-humanism” is the opposite of humanism, that is, the general doctrine or attitude based on an integrative conception of human values.

There is still debate over what constitutes human values and what are simply human behaviors or traits, but the ones identified so far are love, freedom, tolerance, respect, solidarity, and gratitude. Anyone who acts against those values is anti-humanist.

If we review value by value, we will find that Evo Morales acted against each of them at least once in his life, but his most notorious characteristic is the opposite of love: hatred.

Evo Morales harbors a deep hatred that becomes evident when he faces those he considers his enemies or when he is contradicted. You can see it in his eyes, and it is so evident that it can even instill fear.

He is, therefore, a fascist, or “facho,” as fascists who add authoritarianism to their traits are colloquially called. When these characteristics exceed the limits of normality, the fascist becomes something even worse: a dictator.
