Potosí has the most precise and centuries-old clock. The National Mint of Bolivia, among its many tributes, has a sundial with two faces that mark the time with admirable precision. Specifically in winter, it can be observed that the back face of the clock shows the time accurately in Potosí.

The repository’s director, Luis Arancibia, reported that this clock, located in the second courtyard, is one of the starting points of the tourist tours.

“In the back part of our clock in the center of the second courtyard, during winter, the precision of the time can be identified. That is to say, during this season of the year, in winter, the side of the clock is marking the exact time,” he said.

The clock is one of the attractions of the National Mint because it is characterized by its precision and antiquity. “Besides being such an old construction, it shows us that very precise engineering work was done despite the limited technology at that time. It is another reason why visiting the repository of the National Mint in the winter season is special,” he added.

To verify the precision of the clock, El Potosí went to see if it was indeed precise, and the results showed that the time is exact, with no difference compared to cell phone clocks known for their accuracy.
