The president of the Permanent Assembly of Human Rights of Bolivia (Apdhb), Amparo Carvajal, once again set up a vigil in La Paz to demand that the institution’s property be handed over to her.
“That house is not Amparo’s. It has its history. It was donated in 1992 by (former) president Tuto Quiroga,” said Carvajal on the street, where yesterday she also asked for contributions from citizens who passed by the place.
Carvajal reiterated that she demonstrated that Édgar Salazar is not the head of the Apdhb, but she.
Last year, she was evicted from her office in the Apdhb building in La Paz by Salazar, who continues to claim legal representation of the institution.
Given this, Carvajal set up a vigil on the terrace of the same building, where she remained for 50 days. The elderly woman slept outdoors and endured low temperatures to ensure respect for her presidency. “They’re going to take me out of here in a coffin,” she said at the time.

La presidenta de la Asamblea Permanente de Derechos Humanos de Bolivia (Apdhb), Amparo Carvajal, volvió a instalar una vigilia en La Paz para exigir que se le entregue el inmueble de la institución.
“Esa casa no es de Amparo. Tiene su historia. Fue donada en 1992 por el (ex) presidente Tuto Quiroga”, dijo Carvajal en la calle, donde ayer también pedía aportes a los ciudadanos que pasaban por el lugar.
Carvajal reiteró que demostró que Édgar Salazar no es el titular de la Apdhb, sino ella.
El año pasado, fue desalojada de su oficina en el inmueble de la Apdhb en La Paz por Salazar, quien se continúa atribuyendo la representación legal de la institución.
Ante ello, Carvajal instaló una vigilia en la terraza del mismo inmueble, donde permaneció por 50 días. La anciana durmió al aire libre y soportó bajas temperaturas para hacer respetar su presidencia. “De aquí me van a sacar en cajón”, dijo en aquel entonces.
