THE NATIONAL LONG-DISTANCE RUNNER WINS GOLD IN THE 10,000 FLAT METERS
Ninavia touches the sky with her historic double in Cascavel
Remarkable performance by the Bolivian athlete who had already won the gold medal in the 5,000 meter dash. Yesterday he ratified his great international capacity.
With integrity and conviction, a firm and sure stride towards the finish line, David Ninavia Mamani overtook a rearguard competitor and passed the finish line, winning gold in the 10,000-meter dash with a time of 30:05.08, at the South American Games of Cascavel, Brazil.
Immediately afterwards, still on the track, he took a little breather and then went in search of the national tricolor to raise it proudly in Cascavel, where he won his second gold medal yesterday (the first was in the 5,000 meters, on Thursday).
With this time of 30:05.08, Ninavia also set a new national record in the U 20 category, which was held by Vidal Basco, who had clocked 30:50.08 in Edmonton, Canada, on August 1, 2015.
Behind him came his immediate escorts, the second place went to the Peruvian Frank Lujan with 30: 34.54, while the third place went to the Uruguayan Valentín Soca with 30: 44.32. Soca had also seconded him in the 5,000-meter dash.
Ninavia’s first gold at the U23 South American Games was last Thursday, when he won the gold medal in the 5,000 meter dash with a time of 14:39.91.
Ninavía, despite his 19 years, is a quite successful athlete, already in the Bolivarian Games of Valledupar, Colombia, he had achieved the silver medal in the 1,500 meter dash, achieving a national record with some disappointment, because the native of Potosí wanted the gold and he was sure he could get it.
His trophy collection also records South American gold medals in Junior, U18 and a Pan American, which is why he has become quite a competitive and winning athlete.
“I lost count of the medals I have achieved, I only prepare myself in the best way to compete,” said Ninavia from Cascavel, Brazil, accompanied by his coach and mentor, Nemia Coca.
It was Coca with Marcelo Peñaranda, his other coach, who detected the talent of Ninavia and other athletes such as Vidal Basco and Héctor Garibay, to shelter them in “Pie de viento”, the club of long-distance athletes where they forge the talent and dreams of the best long-term athletes.
Ninavia, like Coca, thanked the Vice Ministry of Sports, the Government and the SEDEDE of Oruro for the support they gave him in the sports career of the young athlete, Bolivian pride.

Notable performance del atleta boliviano que ya había conquistado la presea dorada en los 5.000 metros planos. Ayer ratificó su gran capacidad internacional.
Con entereza y convicción, tranco firme y seguro hacia la meta, David Ninavia Mamani rebasó a un competidor de retaguardia y pasó la meta conquistando el oro en la prueba de los 10.000 metros planos con una marca de 30:05.08, en los Juegos Sudamericanos de Cascavel, Brasil.
Inmediatamente después, aún en la pista, tomó un poco de respiro para luego ir en busca de la tricolor nacional para levantarla orgulloso en Cascavel, donde ayer ganó su segunda medalla de oro (la primera fue en los 5.000 metros, el jueves).
Con este registro de 30:05.08, Ninavia también estableció un nuevo récord nacional en la categoría U 20, que estaba en manos de Vidal Basco, quien en Edmonton, Canadá, había registrado 30:50.08, el 1 de agosto de 2015.
Detrás, llegaron sus inmediatos escoltas, el segundo lugar le correspondió al peruano Frank Lujan con 30:34.54, mientras la tercera ubicación fue para el uruguayo Valentín Soca con 30:44.32. Soca también lo había secundado en la prueba de los 5.000 metros planos.
El primer oro de Ninavia en los Juegos Sudamericanos U 23 fue el pasado jueves, cuando ganó la medalla de oro en la prueba de 5.000 metros planos con una marca de 14:39.91.
Ninavía, no obstante sus 19 años, es un atleta bastante exitoso, ya en los Juegos Bolivarianos de Valledupar, Colombia, había logrado la medalla de plata en los 1.500 metros planos, logrando un record nacional con cierto sinsabor, porque el natural de Potosí quería el oro y estaba seguro de que lo podía conseguir.
Su colección de trofeos también consigna medallas doradas sudamericanas en Junior, U18 y un Panamericano, razón por la que se ha convertido en un atleta bastante competitivo y ganador.
“Perdí la cuenta de las medallas que he logrado, sólo me preparo de la mejor manera para competir”, dijo Ninavia desde Cascavel, Brasil, acompañado de su entrenadora y mentora, Nemia Coca.
Fue Coca con Marcelo Peñaranda, su otro entrenador, quienes detectaron el talento de Ninavia y otros atletas como Vidal Basco y Héctor Garibay, para cobijarlos en “Pie de viento”, el club de atletas de fondo donde forjan el talento y los sueños de los mejores deportistas de largo aliento.
Ninavia, al igual que Coca, agradecieron al Viceministerio de Deportes, la Gobernación y el SEDEDE de Oruro por el respaldo que le dieron en la carrera deportiva del joven atleta, orgullo boliviano.
