The Government reported 13 active forest fires in the department, affecting 10 municipalities. Currently 43 brigades with 253 firefighters are carrying out work to put out the fire, with the help of machinery.
According to Yovenka Rosado, director of Natural Resources, 43% of the territory is at extreme risk of fire occurrence. The red alert for forest fires has been declared several weeks ago.
The works are carried out, for example, in Roboré, in the Quitunuquiña community, where, according to the Government, the defense line is opened with manual tools and work is carried out together with community firefighters and firefighters from a nearby property.

Another group works in coordination with firefighters from Direna and the COED, together with the Vice Ministry of Defense, military R-10 Warnes, soldiers from the FAB, the Navy, Civil Defense, ABT and Sernap. This group has managed to control 70% of the fire in the Noel Kempff Mercado park; the objective is to prevent it from entering the forest area, according to reports from the Ministry of Sustainable Development and the Environment.

The other affected natural park is Otuquis, in the Germán Busch province. The fire, which began on August 31, is being fought by firefighters from Direna, COED, Quebracho, Saviors and Sernap Park Rangers, who work day and night to control it.

For this reason, officials from the Biodiversity Conservation Unit arrived in the area to coordinate actions with municipal and national authorities to allow the installation of temporary rescue shelters and care for wildlife affected by the fires.
In the area of El Torno and Porongo, another team will monitor the heat sources, by air, with the help of a drone. They seek to determine if more staff will be needed or if there are other requirements.
Yapacaní
In the morning hours, residents of km 4 of the North Belt of Yapacaní reported an uncontrolled fire that threatened soybean crops, as well as houses in the area. As a result of the complaint, the first response team of the Yapacaní mayor’s office went to the place to put out the fire, which they achieved after two hours of work.
“We remind the population that we are on yellow alert due to fire risk; fortunately, we were able to mitigate this fire that would have started yesterday,” reported José Manuel Ignacio Fita, head of the first response team in that municipality. The fire consumed approximately 4 hectares of grassland.

La Gobernación informó de 13 incendios forestales activos en el departamento, que afectan a 10 municipios. Actualmente 43 brigadas con 253 bomberos se encuentran realizando labores para sofocar el fuego, con la ayuda de maquinaria.
Según Yovenka Rosado, directora de Recursos Naturales,43% del territorio está en riesgo extremo de ocurrencia de incendios. La alerta roja por incendios forestales ha sido declarada hace varias semanas.
Los trabajos se realizan, por ejemplo, en Roboré, en la comunidad Quitunuquiña, donde, según la Gobernación, se realiza la apertura de línea de defensa con herramientas manuales y se trabaja a junto a bomberos comunarios y de una propiedad cercana.

Otro grupo trabaja en coordinación con bomberos de Direna y del COED, junto al viceministerio de Defensa, militares R-10 Warnes, soldados de la FAB, de la Armada, Defensa Civil, ABT y Sernap. Este grupo ha logrado controlar un 70% del incendio en el parque Noel Kempff Mercado; el objetivo es evitar que este ingrese a zona boscosa, según reportes de la Secretaría de Desarrollo Sostenible y Medio Ambiente.

El otro parque natural afectado es el de Otuquis, en la provincia Germán Busch. El fuego, que se inició el pasado 31 de agosto, está siendo combatido por bomberos de Direna, COED, Quebracho, Saviors y Guardaparques del Sernap, que trabajan de día y de noche para controlarlo.

De acuerdo con la Gobernación se trata de un incendio de sexta generación.

Por ello, funcionarios de la unidad de Conservación de la Biodiversidad llegaron a la zona para coordinar acciones con autoridades municipales y nacionales que permitan instalar refugios temporales de rescate y atención de fauna silvestre afectada por los incendios.
En la zona de El Torno y Porongo, otro equipo efectuará monitoreo de los focos de calor, por vía aérea, con ayuda de un dron. Buscan determinar si será necesario más personal o si existen otros requerimientos.
Yapacaní
En horas de la mañana vecinos del km 4 de la Faja Norte de Yapacaní reportaron un incendio descontrolado que amenazaba siembras de soya, así como casas de la zona. A raíz de la denuncia, el equipo de primera respuesta de la alcaldía de Yapacaní se trasladó al lugar para apagar el fuego, lo que consiguió después de dos horas de trabajo.
“Recordamos a la población que estamos en alerta amarilla por riesgo de incendios; afortunadamente logramos mitigar este incendio que se habría iniciado ayer”, informó José Manuel Ignacio Fita, responsable del equipo de primera respuesta de ese municipio. El fuego consumió aproximadamente 4 hectáreas de pastizales.
