Nike Releases Neon “B2-Fera” React Element 55 Inspired by Bolivian Culture

Emily Engle reports for Hypebeast:

The tropical colorway designed by Fera Schmidt will drop August 19.

Bolivian fashion designer Fera Schmidt of ICETEES recently teamed up with Nike and its WeAreCultivator program, an initiative that aims to further highlight the stories of Nike collaborators. The result of this particular collaboration is a tropical neon green React Element 55 that draws inspiration from Schmidt’s journey from Bolivia to New York City.

Named “B2-Fera,” a combination of the designer’s first name and the B2 immigration Visa she filed to move to NYC, the new React Element 55 features a neon green upper with a tonal midsole and matching laces. Bright orange detailing at the heel paired with a black Nike swoosh and stitching adds a bit of contrast, while a plastic lace guard brings a textural finishing touch to the model. Finally, the name “B2” is featured at the top of the tongue.

Schmidt notes that the green hue she picked reminds her of her lush hometown Santa Cruz de La Sierra, while the orange is pulled from the bright lights in her NYC apartment. “The grind of this city fuels my creativity; its iconic industrial style, saturated with bright signage, yellow cabs and bold fashion is completely different from the naturally colorful landscapes in Bolivia,” says Schmidt. “This contrast between my two homes is a constant source of inspiration and a reminder of where I come from, and where I want to be.”

The B2-Fera React Element 55 will release on Nike’s website beginning August 19.

In other neon footwear news, adidas gives its ZX 4000 4D the highlighter treatment.
