November 10, 2017: Potosí celebrates 207 anniversary

From El Diario and my life:

Potosí celebrates 207 anniversary

Potosí celebrates today 207 years of its libertarian cry, is one of the nine departments that constitutes the territory of Bolivia. Its capital is the Potosí homonym, famous for its silver deposits, which transcended to the thesaurus or to the lexicon of the Spanish language with the phrase “vale un Potosí”.

It is located in the southwest of the country, bounded on the north by the departments of Oruro and Cochabamba, on the east by Chuquisaca and Tarija, and on the south by Argentina to the Cerro Zapaleri hill, where its border with Chile begins, to the west.

According to the last official census conducted in 2012, the department has a population of 828,093 inhabitants. Its population density is 7.7 hab / km² being the third less densely populated department -before Beni and Pando-. It was founded on January 23, 1826 by the Marshal of Ayacucho, Antonio José de Sucre.
