During October 2011, two main political issues happened: the Judicial “elections” and the TIPNIS fight against a road that would cut the national park and indigenous territory. In both instances, current Bolivian president and his political coalition lost credibility and appeared as the losing party.
This cartoon, published today in La Razon, shows the envy that both opposition and government political parties felt about the apotheosic welcoming La Paz citizens gave the TIPNIS indigenous protest marchers since the time they arrived and also when they left (to date, 300 remain until the law that enforces their rights over the TIPNIS is passed in the National Assembly). Furthermore, support, respect and caring demonstrations of sympathy nationwide over the indigenous group are the envy of any Bolivian politician (LOL).
The judiciary vote count is still underway, Samuel Doria Medina, one of the opposition leaders who showed how null votes were counted as valid; thus “inflating” the number of valid votes, which is obviously wrong. More information on this issue as it happens; whenever official results will be made available and whether or not a real and transparent audit is conducted on this process.
In October the clear winner were the TIPNIS and the indigenous people of the low lands.
