14:00 TIPNIS starts dialogue with Bolivian government 10/21/11

If you read my tweets, you know indigenous leaders as they walked out of the governmental palace, after 90 minutes, said they will reconvene and meet around 17:00 this afternoon.

Indigenous leaders would like current Bolivian president to greet all the marchers. They also want more TIPNIS people to be able to go inside Plaza Murillo. They also said they are waiting for the final outcome, revision and passing the new short Law. New revision, per presidential’s instruction, to declare the TIPNIS as an intangible area, thus no settlements will be allowed and there will be no road through the park and/or indigenous territory.

So, at last there appears to be light and the end of this tortuous, violent and frustrating struggle to protect indigenous rights and the park which belongs to all Bolivians.
