La Razon, using data from the National Institute for Statistics (INE) has produced the following chart:
As of September, inflation this year is 5.54%, very close to the yearly estimated inflation current government expected to be 6% for this year.
Armando Mendez, a highly respected Bolivian economist (and former Central Bank President) estimates that this year Bolivia will reach 7% which is not bad, after all. Mendez attributes this inflation levels to the “huge imported quantities,” food included in the last months; the local market prices remaining regular; and low disbursement figures on government’s execution of their projects, programs this year. All of the above, had contributed to this inflation rate, Mendez said.
