Bolivian TIPNIS conflict, far away from resolving…

This picture shows the TIPNIS marching group, towards La Paz. As La Prensa reports, the indigenous groups will not send their leaders to La Paz to negotiate with current Bolivian president. They insist that the president goes to San Ignacio de Moxos to start-up the dialogue.

Over 1,000 people have marched for the last four days from Trinidad, now they are resting in San Ignacio de Moxos until today Monday August 21, 2011; hoping that the president will get there to meet them. In the meantime government officials use different arguments to explain this president’s reticence.

The following article appeared in Los Tiempos, August 22, 2011. Written by Carlos Mesa, Bolivian Ex-President says that Bolivia is slowly acknowledging that current president’s ruling on anything becomes almost mandatory. Mesa analyzes the TIPNIS issue by revising all the articles in the existing Constitution that are being set aside and this president’s approach to this issue.
