Bolivia accuses the USA: TIPNIS protest walk. One casualty in the group.

Today Sunday August 21, 2011. El Deber reports the Bolivian government accusing the US Embassy as “encouraging the indigenous march.” Current Bolivian president said that tomorrow the Foreign Affairs Minister, David Choquehuanca will contact the US Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) and inquire about some phone calls that happened between US Embassy personnel (Eliseo Abelo) and indigenous leaders (Rafael Quispe and Pedro Nuni).

Bolivian current president said also he is reflecting about the request from some social organizations to “finish with USAID” and that “USAID is hurting us a lot.” One of CIDOB’s leaders, Ernesto Sanchez told EFE that president’s remarks does not weaken them,  and “they are low” attempts to take the prestige out of the protest march.

Sanchez confirmed that a teenager, Pedro Moyenosa (age 13) who fell from the truck (last Thursday) that was transporting the goods of the marching group, was severely hurt. He was taken to Trinidad for care and after two surgeries could not survive.
