By Humberto Vacaflor, El Diario:

The country is witnessing what looks like a Mexican soap opera written by a drunken or drugged screenwriter, starring a young woman of very loose morals and an Argentine adviser who breaks down crying at the top of his lungs.

The young woman, who was fortunate to escape with only minor injuries from an attack by two hitmen with very poor aim and who worked for the chief drug trafficker until November 2019, cannot stop talking with the arm that was not injured.

She claims to be four weeks pregnant by the Argentine, who denies it, but remains silent when described as an adviser to President Rodrigo Paz.

The government has remained silent about these accusations, including the young woman’s claims that payments from the Palacio Quemado would allegedly be reaching supposedly opposition deputies and senators.

According to her revelations, in order to secure two-thirds majorities on votes that interest the government, these “opposition” lawmakers receive $5,000 each.

Some of those mentioned say the young woman should produce evidence to support her allegations, something that could happen at any moment.

Coincidentally, she is allegedly the person responsible for making those payments, which puts her in a position to present such evidence—provided the recipients made the mistake of signing a receipt.

The beneficiaries of these payments would supposedly be deputies and senators from all three political parties that are currently trying to decide whether or not to support the government.

This makes the process more expensive because, as is well known, every deputy or senator has an alternate who replaces the officeholder for one week each month and is entitled both to vote and to be paid for doing so.

The government will have to say something about these allegations, but the president is currently focused on what the chief drug trafficker might do. The trafficker has reportedly set out to overthrow him once the state of emergency ends or when October arrives—a favorite month for his conspiracies.

But amid the scandals of recent days, the president must also respond to those who believe he should resign immediately, because the young woman claims that he is corrupt, as are his wife and daughters.

He will also have to pay attention to Congressman Carlos Alarcón’s proposal to call a recall referendum covering the Executive and Legislative branches, as well as the Judiciary.

Unless the president decides to put an end to all these threats by asking the United States to deploy the Southern Command, which would eliminate drug trafficking, as it is currently doing in Colombia.
