“It’s time to give way to meritocracy,” said Rodrigo Paz Pereira this Sunday at the Palacio Quemado after swearing in his cabinet. The list includes business leaders from Santa Cruz, as well as experts in economics and international relations.

During his speech, the president posed the question: “(…) Surely some will ask, where are the sectors? For 20 years they were represented, as I said yesterday: where is the lithium? Today, after 20 years of applying a certain methodology, is Bolivia better off? Or is it time to give way to meritocracy, efficiency, and the transformation of the State so it can serve the people—and for the people to be the ones who benefit?” "Es momento de darle paso a la meritocracia", dice Paz tras posesionar a su gabinete

The president highlighted the professional background and experience of each cabinet member. “The first message to the esteemed ministers: you are honorable people, capable, well-trained, knowledgeable in your fields, and aware of our nation’s needs. But it is not your merits alone—it is the will of the people, expressed through the faith of the State. The State grants you this space, representing the popular will, so that through your portfolios you can advance the common good, generate development, promote happiness and dignity, and deliver solutions for Bolivians.”"Es momento de darle paso a la meritocracia", dice Paz tras posesionar a su gabinete

Later, Paz Pereira reiterated the guiding principles that led him to the Presidency as goals his team must pursue together.

“Our four guidelines: Bolivia in the world and the world in Bolivia. Capitalism for all, which means a productive model. Ending the obstructive State and launching our 50-50 process, based on building the economy and the new State from the regions—thus transforming our vision,” said the president.

To conclude, Paz declared: “God bless you, God bless our nation, God bless your families, and now there’s nothing left but to get to work and deliver results for all Bolivians.”"Es momento de darle paso a la meritocracia", dice Paz tras posesionar a su gabinete
