Sustainability That’s Felt and Transformative: CBN Once Again Leads the MERCO ESG Ranking | Sostenibilidad que se siente y transforma: CBN vuelve a liderar el ranking MERCO ESG

By El Dia:

For five consecutive years, the brewing company has been recognized for its sustainability programs and projects that reflect its leadership and positive impact on the environment, society, and governance.

It stood out in both the individual assessment and in environmental matters

Cervecería Boliviana Nacional has embraced sustainability as a strategic and cross-cutting pillar guiding all its actions, acting with purpose to create value for society, the economy, and the environment.

This approach, reflected in various initiatives and business practices, has led to the company being recognized for the fifth consecutive year as number one in the ESG Responsibility Ranking by the Corporate Reputation Business Monitor (MERCO).

This year, the company also stood out in the individual assessment of each ESG segment: achieving first place in the categories of Environment (E), Society (S), and Governance (G). This result demonstrates a comprehensive and strategic management approach with a positive impact.

These recognitions are received with great joy and represent a reward for the ongoing efforts to promote a new model of business management that also contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030.

“We are happy to once again be leaders in sustainability. Being first in the MERCO ESG Ranking for the fifth consecutive year and also leading the rankings in each area is a reflection that good work generates real impact,” said Andrea Benavente, National Manager of Corporate Communication and Sustainability at Cervecería Boliviana Nacional.

During 2024, CBN reaffirmed its commitment to the country through #SoñamosQueSomos, a solidarity platform that mobilized employees, partners, and entire communities to protect lives in the face of forest fires. More than 14 affected communities received direct support, along with 14 firefighter and ranger organizations that fight on the frontlines for our forests.

With an investment of over one million bolivianos, contributions ranged from hydrating beverages to drones and specialized equipment, as well as health insurance, medicine, and key tools for firefighting. As a symbol of hope, the company raised Bs. 350,000 to help restore Santa Rita in Concepción, a community devastated by fire but not forgotten.

Another flagship initiative that highlights the company’s commitment to sustainability is Agua SOMOS, which has transformed the lives of over 700 families in nine rural Bolivian communities through safe water access projects. The solidarity shown by this brand has had concrete impacts in departments such as La Paz, Cochabamba, Chuquisaca, Tarija, and Santa Cruz.

CBN has also made progress toward its goal of reducing carbon emissions through a complete transformation of its operations. To this end, it has introduced both electric trucks and vans. To date, more than 270 solar panels have been installed at distribution centers, along with the incorporation of electric forklifts. The company has also contributed to the conversion of trucks into higher-capacity siders, reducing the use of fossil fuels by lowering the number of trips required.

Finally, Cervecería Boliviana Nacional continues to bet on sustainable innovation through its 100+ Accelerator platform, which in its fourth edition supported high-impact potential solutions in key areas such as the circular economy, water efficiency, climate action, and waste transformation. This initiative reinforces CBN’s commitment to developing an innovation ecosystem that actively contributes to the 2030 SDGs.

“We thank MERCO for the recognition, and CBN will continue on this path, showing that leading in sustainability involves daily, measurable practice that puts people and the planet at the center and works every day to earn the country’s trust,” concluded Benavente.
