Civic leaders to the opposition

As differences within the opposition bloc become more evident due to the poll to define a single candidate, the Pro Santa Cruz Civic Committee called for unity among the opposition’s pre-candidates and warned them that they will be held responsible if MAS wins the elections again.

“We are still on time. We urge all opposition candidates to put aside their personal interests, to lower their egos and unite. We need to go forward in unity,” stated the president of the Pro Santa Cruz Civic Committee, Stello Cochamanidis.

The civic leader said that opinion studies show that almost two-thirds of Bolivians are calling for unity among the opposition. He also recalled that unity was a mandate that emerged from the January 2023 cabildo.

“Today, those who are falling short, those not fulfilling the mandate of the cabildo, are the opposition candidates,” he declared.

The civic president stressed that Bolivia demands a change in direction — something that can only be achieved through opposition unity.

“What matters is that they drop their attitudes, their personal interests, lower their egos and unite, because if not, they will be responsible if MAS returns to power,” he concluded.

Last week, pre-candidate Jorge Quiroga rejected the poll to select the opposition bloc’s candidate and proposed a “transparent mechanism” instead. Meanwhile, Samuel Doria Medina stated that the opinion survey is already underway and this week the presidential candidate will be announced. (Santa Cruz, with data from Unitel)

Cívicos a la oposición

Cuando se hacen más evidentes las diferencias en el bloque de oposición por la encuesta para definir el candidato único, el Comité pro Santa Cruz pidió unidad a los precandidatos de la oposición y les advirtió que ellos serán responsables si el MAS vuelve a ganar en las elecciones.

“Estamos a tiempo, exhortamos a todos los candidatos de oposición a deponer sus intereses personales, a bajar sus egos y que se unan. Necesitamos ir en unidad”, manifestó el presidente del Comité pro Santa Cruz, Stello Cochamanidis.

El líder cívico señaló que estudios de opinión muestran que casi dos tercios de Bolivia piden unidad a la oposición. Además, recordó que la unidad en la oposición es un mandato que surgió del cavilado de enero del 2023.

“Hoy los que no están dando la talla, los que no están respondiendo el mandato del cabildo son los candidatos de oposición”, declaró.

El presidente cívico señaló que Bolivia demanda un cambio de timón, algo que se puede lograr solamente con unidad en la oposición.

“Lo importante es que depongan sus actitudes, sus intereses personales, que bajen sus egos y se unan porque si no ellos serán responsables si el MAS vuelve a ser gobierno”, concluyó el cívico.

La semana pasada el precandidato Jorge Quiroga expresó su rechazo a la encuesta para definir al candidato del bloque de oposición y planteó un “mecanismo transparente” para la definición. Por su parte, Samuel Doria Medina, señaló que la consulta de opinión ya está en marcha y esta semana se conocerá al presidenciable. (Santa Cruz, con datos de Unitel)
