Rómulo Calvo: “What do we Cruceños do in a country that does not love us, with rulers who hate”
The president of the Committee for Santa Cruz considers that the Government does not intend to listen and provide solutions to the demands of the people of Santa Cruz.
After the delay in the approval of the census law in the Chamber of Deputies, the president of the Committee for Santa Cruz attacked the government of Luis Arce Catacora for not listening to the demands of the population of Santa Cruz, which has been carrying out a month of strike.
“We have already made a decision to review, what do we Cruceños do in a country that does not love us, with rulers who really hate us and who do not want us to continue being a fundamental pillar of this Bolivia, repressed by a government that only takes out and takes out and it does not give to its people,” said Calvo.
The annoyance arose after the session in which a census law was to be approved was suspended, which guarantees the distribution of resources and seats for the 2025 elections.
In the Chamber of Deputies, the session that was to be installed at 5:00 p.m. today was suspended, because the Constitution Commission did not submit a conclusive report, after analyzing three bills. That Commission, chaired by the MAS deputy, Juan José Jáuregui, declared an intermediate recess until 4:00 p.m., and then proceeded with the report, but the meeting was not rescheduled.
Calvo lamented this situation, despite the commitment on the part of the President of the House of Representatives, Jerges Mercado, to approve today, in that instance, the census law.
For the civic leader, this situation only shows that the Government does not intend to listen and provide solutions to the demands of the people of Santa Cruz, on the contrary, it is angry against this region that only seeks to contribute to the development of the country.
If the Government does not listen and does not flinch from the pain and need of the people of Santa Cruz, they are working on a project, “whoever gets hurts in the Government,” Calvo said.
“Here the one that discriminates against us is this Government, the one that has other intentions is this Government. There is money to give away to socialist governments, but there is no money to invest in their people, in their needs. They have lied to us for more than 16 years,” he said.
He said that the Government is only looking for a way to waste time to delay this issue, as it did with the technical tables for the census, it does not intend to solve the conflict.
“They are angry at a people that seeks to grow, work in peace and continue to contribute to Bolivia, as it does to this day,” he mentioned.
The civic described the Government as insensitive for not listening, on the contrary, it only seeks to intimidate and limit society, as it did from the Ministry of Education, by leaving the Santa Cruz high school graduates without diplomas.
“A government that is walking around as if it had the acceptance of a people, parading a president, and a people here sunbathing, going through hardship, hunger,” he said.
He also questioned the ruling party’s parliamentarians for being against the demands of the people of Santa Cruz and for not doing their part to solve this problem.
Calvo asked the opposition deputies to be vigilant to avoid any cheating by MAS on the census.
“Stay vigilant, we cannot lower our guard at this time. Santa Cruz needs us, Bolivia needs us and I once again ask all Bolivians, that this fight is for everyone, this backpack cannot continue to be carried by Santa Cruz alone, we have to carry this backpack among all Bolivians”, asserted the president of the Committee for Santa Cruz.
The civic members of Santa Cruz complete 31 days of indefinite strike, they demand that the Population and Housing Census be carried out in 2023 and that the redistribution of resources and seats for the 2025 elections be guaranteed with a law.

El presidente del Comité pro Santa Cruz considera que el Gobierno no tiene la intención de escuchar y dar soluciones a las demandas del pueblo cruceño.
Tras el retraso de la aprobación de la ley del censo en la Cámara de Diputados, el presidente del Comité pro Santa Cruz arremetió contra el gobierno de Luis Arce Catacora por no escuchar las demandas de la población de Santa Cruz, que lleva adelante un mes de paro.
“Ya hemos tomado una decisión que revisar, qué hacemos los cruceños en un país que no nos quiere, con gobernantes que de verdad odian y que no quieren que sigamos siendo pilar fundamental de esta Bolivia, reprimida por un Gobierno que solamente saca y saca y no le da a su gente”, manifestó Calvo.
La molestia surgió después de que se suspendió la sesión en la que debía aprobarse una ley del censo, que garantice la distribución de recursos y de escaños para las elecciones de 2025.
En la Cámara de Diputados se suspendió la sesión que debía instalarse a las 17.00 de hoy, debido a que la Comisión de Constitución no remitió un informe conclusivo, tras el análisis de tres proyectos de ley. Esa Comisión presidida por el diputado del MAS, Juan José Jáuregui, declaró un cuarto intermedio hasta las 16.00, para luego avanzar con el informe, pero la reunión no se volvió a instalar.
Calvo lamentó esa situación, pese al compromiso que había de parte del presidente de Diputados, Jerges Mercado, de aprobar hoy, en esa instancia, la ley del censo.
Para el líder cívico, esa situación solo demuestra que el Gobierno no tiene la intención de escuchar y de dar soluciones a las demandas del pueblo cruceño, al contrario, tiene rabia contra esta región que solo busca aportar con el desarrollo del país.
Si el Gobierno no escucha y no se inmuta del dolor y la necesidad del pueblo cruceño, se está trabajando en un proyecto, “le duela a quien le duela en el Gobierno”, refirió Calvo.
“Aquí el que nos discrimina es este Gobierno, el que tiene otras intenciones es este Gobierno. Hay plata para regalar a los gobiernos socialistas, pero no hay plata para invertir en su gente, en sus necesidades. Nos han mentido más de 16 años”, acotó.
Dijo que el Gobierno solo busca la forma de hacer perder el tiempo para retrasar este tema, como lo hizo con las mesas técnicas por el censo, no tiene la intención de dar solución al conflicto.
“Tienen rabia contra un pueblo que busca crecer, trabajar en paz y seguir aportando a Bolivia, como lo hace hasta el día de hoy”, mencionó.
El cívico calificó de insensible al Gobierno por no escuchar, al contrario, solo busque amedrentar y cuartar a la sociedad, como lo hizo desde el ministerio de Educación, al dejar sin diplomas a los bachilleres cruceños.
“Un Gobierno que se está paseando como si tuviera la aceptación de un pueblo, desfilando un presidente, y un pueblo aquí soleándose, pasando penurias, hambre”, indicó.
También cuestionó a los parlamentarios cruceños del oficialismo por estar en contra de las demandas del pueblo de Santa Cruz y por no poner de su parte para solucionar este problema.
Calvo pidió a los diputados de oposición estar vigilantes para evitar alguna trampa del MAS sobre el censo.
“Quédense vigilantes, no podemos nosotros en este momento bajar la guardia. Santa Cruz nos necesita, Bolivia nos necesita y vuelvo a pedirle a todos los bolivianos, que esta lucha es por todos, esta mochila no la puede seguir cargando Santa Cruz solamente, esta mochila tenemos que cargarla entre todos los bolivianos”, aseveró el presidente del Comité pro Santa Cruz.
Los cívicos cruceños cumplen 31 días de paro indefinido, exigen que el Censo de Población y Vivienda se realice el 2023 y se garantice con una ley la redistribución de recursos y escaños para las elecciones de 2025.
