Society of the Charango prepares its celebrations

With two concerts, the Bolivian Charango Society (SBC) will celebrate both its 49 years of existence and the National Day of the Charango. The presentations will be on Tuesday, April 5 and Wednesday, April 6.

As in previous versions, before the pandemic, the career and contribution of artists and artisans of the small instrument will be recognized. This year the chosen ones are Alejandro Cámara and Gerardo Pareja.

“It is the opportunity to remember those who not only play the charango, but also innovate in interpretation and share their experiences with the new generations,” explained Wilfredo Apaza, current president.

The concerts will feature the participation of prominent soloists and groups. Among the guests are Donato Espinoza, René Alinas, Bruno Campos, Wilson Luna, Carlos Gutiérrez, Wilfredo Apaza, Cristian Ticona, Rubén Porco (from the Norte Potosí group) and others.

The stage will be the Modesta Sanginés Municipal Theater of the House of Culture (Mariscal Santa Cruz Avenue corner Potosí). They will start both days at 7:00 p.m. and tickets will cost 20 bolivianos. They can be purchased at the space ticket offices.

On Monday, April 4, the festivities will be launched at the Museum of Native Instruments on Jaén Street.

Sociedad del Charango alista sus festejos

Con dos conciertos, la Sociedad Boliviana del Charango (SBC) festejará tanto sus 49 años de existencia como el Día Nacional del Charango. Las presentaciones serán el martes 5 y miércoles 6 de abril.

Como en anteriores versiones, antes de la pandemia, se reconocerá la carrera y el aporte de artistas y artesanos del pequeño instrumento. Este año los elegidos son Alejandro Cámara y Gerardo Pareja.

“Es la oportunidad para recordar a aquellos que no solo tocan el charango, sino que innovan en la interpretación y comparten sus experiencias con las nuevas generaciones”, explicó y Wilfredo Apaza, actual presidente.

Los conciertos contarán con la participación de destacados solistas y agrupaciones. Entre los invitados están Donato Espinoza, René Alinas, Bruno Campos, Wilson Luna, Carlos Gutiérrez, Wilfredo Apaza, Cristian Ticona, Rubén Porco (del grupo Norte Potosí) y otros.

El escenario será el Teatro Municipal Modesta Sanginés de la Casa de la Cultura (avenida Mariscal Santa Cruz esq. Potosí). Comenzarán ambos días a las 19:00 y las entradas costarán 20 bolivianos. Se las puede adquirir en las boleterías del espacio.

El lunes 4 de abril se realizará el lanzamiento de los festejos  en el Museo de Instrumentos Nativos de la calle Jaén.
