Un descarado embajador argentino – A shameless Argentine ambassador

Jesus Alanoca, El Deber:

Former Foreign Minister considers the interference of the Argentine ambassador “shameless” and asks to demand his removal
  • She maintains that the presence of Basteiro in the MAS march violates the Vienna Convention and the principle of sovereignty of the peoples. The diplomat accompanied Evo on his trip to La Paz

Former Foreign Minister Karen Longaric described this Friday as “shameless” the interference of the Argentine ambassador in Bolivia, Ariel Basteiro, after joining the march of the Movement Toward Socialism (MAS), led by Evo Morales, on Thursday.

The former minister considered that the representative incurs in “political activism” and violates the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations, in addition to failing to the elementary principle of “respect for the sovereignty of the peoples.”

“What Mr. Basteiro is doing is political activism, showing that he has a political position, he has been permanently reviling the opposition, he does not keep neutrality and does not exercise the sacred respect of a diplomat for the internal affairs of a country,” said the former authority .

She considered that not only the political opposition but also the population, through their different institutions, should demonstrate against what happened, because “Argentine interference in the internal affairs of Bolivia has been open and offensive for a long time.”

“Not only the opposition in Bolivia must demonstrate, categorically rejecting the shameless interference of this man, but the entire Bolivian people, through the different institutions, must make a representation. The voice of the people must be heard, we have to complain, Argentina intends to give an openly ideological political line, and the glove is only grasped by Bolivia, because the rest of the countries reject that attitude of Argentina,” she suggested in an interview with the Central Affairs program.

She urged society to request the withdrawal of the Argentine ambassador, who also admitted that his country, through the government of Alberto Fernández, “made a great effort to achieve the return of Evo Morales to Bolivia.”
