Fue pacificación, no golpe – It was pacification, not coup

Pagina Siete:

In four paragraphs, the European Union was forceful in stating yesterday that in the meetings that were held at the Bolivian Catholic University (UCB) in November 2019, what was sought was a peaceful solution to the political and social crisis that the country was experiencing and in in no case a rupture of the constitutional order, as the government and the MAS maintain in their desperate attempt to position their rhetoric of the coup.

The statement is a serious blow to the risky speech that President Luis Arce delivered at the last UN General Assembly, accusing the EU representative of complicity with the alleged coup plan, as well as other international actors.

But the statement also constitutes a key testimony for the process that is being carried out in the Bolivian justice against former president Jeanine Añez and other actors of 2019, since it coincides with the version that at the time offered the Catholic Church and It also states that the meetings were held “at the explicit request” of former President Evo Morales, who declares himself the main victim of the alleged coup. It remains to be seen the weight that this text will have for Bolivian justice.
