Amparo Carvajal in the Indigenous March: “These are the moments that make me strong.”
“It is these historical moments that my history in Bolivia has that make me strong and grateful to life.” Thus, the president of the Permanent Assembly of Human Rights of Bolivia (APDHB), Amparo Carvajal, described the importance for her of the accompaniment of the 11th Indigenous March that goes to the city of Santa Cruz.
Carvajal joined the mobilization on Tuesday. She said that she feels enormous sadness because she can perceive the poverty in children, in the elderly, and the need they have to be cared for.
She explained that the indigenous people are asking for respect for their land, that there be work, land titling, among other demands. She pointed out that she is very sorry to see people who have nowhere to install their home.
Regarding the questions that politicians should not be in the march, Carvajal affirmed that, in some way, we are all politicians, and that the demand for the mobilization is fair.
She also considered it sad that, in the heart of America, the natural wealth and the inhabitants that Bolivia has, have not been appreciated and that such an important Constitution is not respected.
The Indigenous March plans to mobilize this Wednesday [9/22/2021] towards Cuatro Cañadas, in its mobilization that is heading to Santa Cruz de la Sierra, where it intends to arrive on September 24.
Amparo Carvajal en la Marcha Indígena: ‘Son estos momentos los que me hacen fuerte’
“Son estos momentos tan históricos que tiene mi historia en Bolivia los que me hacen fuerte y agradecida a la vida”. Así la presidenta de la Asamblea Permanente de Derechos Humanos de Bolivia (APDHB), Amparo Carvajal, describió la importancia que tiene para ella el acompañamiento que hace a la 11ª Marcha Indígena que se dirige a la ciudad de Santa Cruz.
Carvajal se sumó a la movilización el martes. Dijo que siente una tristeza enorme porque puede percibir la pobreza en los niños, en los mayores, y la necesidad que tienen de ser atendidos.
Explicó que los indígenas están pidiendo el respeto a su tierra, que haya trabajo, la titulación, entre otras demandas. Señaló que le apena mucho ver a la gente que no tiene dónde instalar su hogar.
Respecto a los cuestionamientos de que políticos no deberían estar en la marcha, Carvajal afirmó que, de alguna manera, todos somos políticos, y que la demanda de la movilización es justa.
También consideró triste que, en el corazón de América, no se aprecie la riqueza natural y de los habitantes que tiene Bolivia y que no se respete una Constitución tan importante.
La Marcha Indígena prevé movilizarse este miércoles [22/9/2021] hacia Cuatro Cañadas, en su movilización que se dirige a Santa Cruz de la Sierra, a donde pretende llegar el 24 de septiembre.
