Los responsables de la vida de la expresidenta
No hace falta matizar el asunto, lo que están haciendo con la expresidenta Jeanine Añez no es justicia, es un acto de venganza. Y la vendetta no es del Órgano Judicial, es de quienes manejan sus hilos, como lo han constatado los propios expertos del GIEI en su informe sobre los hechos de violencia de fines de 2019.
Es la revancha de quienes son incapaces de abrir un espacio a la reconciliación, de quienes dicen que eso sólo es posible admitiendo que su ideología es la mejor para el país, de quienes alientan el enfrentamiento entre civiles para neutralizar la disidencia e imponerse por la fuerza, de quienes no pueden admitir que la reelección presidencial indefinida no es un derecho humano y quieren implantar su versión de golpe aún a costa de la vida de las personas.
Claro, como en 2019, no aparecen al frente de la obra; están detrás y pendientes de la puerta de salida por si algo sale mal. Eso ocurre en el caso de la expresidenta, ahora asfixiada hasta el punto de la desesperación por esa justicia en la que el GIEI detectó “falta de independencia” y “vulneración del debido proceso”. Pero además de los operadores judiciales, hay otros.
Añez fue aprehendida hace cinco meses y 10 días en un operativo que vulneró sus derechos y que estuvo encabezado por el mismo Comandante de la Policía y el Ministro de Gobierno, quienes el sábado minimizaron el cuadro de desesperación en el que la expresidenta se debe encontrar como para haberse autolesionado. “Habría pretendido ella generarse una autolesión”, “tiene unos pequeños rasguños en los brazos”, dijo el ministro Eduardo del Castillo para referirse a un episodio que no se mide por el nivel de las heridas sino por la gravedad del daño psicológico.
No es para menos. La forma en que fue aprehendida, las cuatro veces que rechazaron sus pedidos para defenderse en libertad, la reciente ampliación de su prisión preventiva por otros seis meses, cuatro juicios de responsabilidades en curso, el delicado cuadro de salud que enfrenta y que en la semana hizo que llegue a hospitales en dos oportunidades, sumados a la noticia de que su hija también será ahora enjuiciada, destruyen a cualquiera.
Aparentemente el Ministro de Gobierno no quiere entenderlo, tampoco el comandante de la Policía, quien dijo que Añez sólo quiere llamar la atención, ni el director de Régimen Penitenciario, que el sábado no facilitó el ingreso al penal de la presidenta de la Asamblea Permanente de Derechos Humanos de Bolivia, Amparo Carvajal, para verificar el estado de la expresidenta.
Como ellos, muchos otros tendrán que asumir responsabilidades por lo que vaya a ocurrir con Añez (esperemos que nada malo), incluidos quienes están detrás de los telones de esta justicia que no merecemos los bolivianos.
Those responsible for the life of the former president
It is not necessary to clarify the matter, what they are doing with former president Jeanine Añez is not justice, it is an act of revenge. And the vendetta does not belong to the Judicial Branch, it belongs to those who handle its strings, as the GIEI experts themselves have verified in their report on the acts of violence at the end of 2019.
It is the revenge of those who are unable to open a space for reconciliation, of those who say that this is only possible by admitting that their ideology is the best for the country, of those who encourage confrontation between civilians to neutralize dissent and impose themselves by force, of those who cannot admit that indefinite presidential re-election is not a human right and want to implement their version at once, even at the cost of people’s lives.
Of course, as in 2019, they do not appear in front of the work; they are behind and pending the exit door in case something goes wrong. This occurs in the case of the former president, now suffocated to the point of desperation for that justice in which the GIEI detected “lack of independence” and “violation of due process.” But in addition to judicial operators, there are others.
Añez was apprehended five months and 10 days ago in an operation that violated her rights and was headed by the same Police Commander and the Minister of Government, who on Saturday minimized the picture of despair in which the former president must find herself as to have injured herself. “She would have tried to self-harm”, “she has small scratches on her arms,” said Minister Eduardo del Castillo, referring to an episode that is not measured by the level of the injuries but by the severity of the psychological damage.
It is not for less. The way she was apprehended, the four times her requests to defend herself in freedom were rejected, the recent extension of her preventive detention for another six months, four ongoing liability trials, the delicate health situation she faces and that in the week made her reach hospitals on two occasions, added to the news that her daughter will now also be prosecuted, those destroy anyone.
Apparently the Minister of Government does not want to understand it, neither does the Police Commander, who said that Añez only wants to attract attention, nor the Director of the Penitentiary Regime, who on Saturday did not facilitate the entry to the prison of the President of the Permanent Assembly of Human Rights of Bolivia, Amparo Carvajal, to verify the status of the former president.
Like them, many others will have to take responsibility for what will happen to Añez (hopefully nothing bad), including those behind the curtains of this justice that Bolivians do not deserve.
