Representantes de la UE y EEUU expresaron su preocupación por la exmandataria. La Conferencia Episcopal insta a que se respeten los derechos humanos.
La delegación de la Unión Europea (UE) en Bolivia y la Embajada de Estados Unidos (EEUU) expresaron su preocupación por la expresidenta Jeanine Añez, quien intentó quitarse la vida ayer. La Iglesia pide que el proceso contra la exmandataria se encamine respetando los derechos humanos. En tanto, políticos y activistas solicitan que la exmandataria se defienda en libertad.
Ricardo Centellas, presidente de la Conferencia Episcopal Boliviana, manifestó que espera que Añez pueda serenarse. Por otro lado, pidió a los que procesan a la exjefa de Estado “que hagan todo este camino respetando los derechos humanos”.
La Embajada de EEUU en Bolivia alentó al Gobierno para que Añez reciba la atención adecuada. “Nos preocupan los informes sobre el bienestar psicológico de Jeanine Añez. Alentamos al Gobierno de Bolivia a garantizar que reciba la atención adecuada”, es el mensaje que compartió esa misión diplomática.
La delegación de la UE en Bolivia expresó: “La UE en Bolivia escucha con preocupación las noticias sobre la expresidenta Jeanine Añez. Esperamos que las autoridades responsables hagan todo para garantizar su derecho a la salud integral, tanto física como mental”.
Carlos Mesa, líder de Comunidad Ciudadana, pidió el cese del “encarcelamiento político” contra Añez, y que la exmandataria se defienda en libertad.
“Las explicaciones del Gobierno sobre el estado de la expresidenta Jeanine Añez no son serias ni creíbles. La Asamblea Permanente de DDHH y Oacnudh, como entidades independientes, deben verificar su situación. Pido el cese de su encarcelamiento político. Que se defienda en libertad”, tuiteó.
Fernando Camacho, gobernador cruceño y líder de Creemos, exigió respeto a los derechos humanos y que cese la persecución. “El gobierno de Luis Arce y su política revanchista está superando todos los límites. Una y otra vez han manoseado la salud de Jeanine Añez, en un comportamiento inhumano que es crueldad. ¡Exigimos que cesen las persecuciones y respeten los derechos humanos de los presos políticos!”, indicó.
Ayer en La Paz un grupo de activistas pidieron libertad para Añez en inmediaciones de la cárcel de Miraflores. “¡Libertad para Jeanine!”, gritaron.
Anoche en Santa Cruz, un grupo de mujeres se apostaron en la puerta de la catedral cruceña, con carteles que llevaban mensajes como “Libertad para Jeanine Añez”, “Jeanine no estás sola” o “Libre ahora”.
El exministro Óscar Ortiz alertó que la vida de Añez corre riesgo y sostuvo que debe defenderse desde su domicilio. “La vida de la expresidenta Jeanine Añez está en riesgo por una detención que viola los derechos humanos fundamentales. Debe poder defenderse de los juicios que enfrenta desde su domicilio para preservar su vida y el respeto a sus derechos”, indicó.
Iván Arias, alcalde de La Paz, pidió que Añez se pueda defender en libertad y se preguntó: “¿Hasta dónde van a llegar las consecuencias del odio y el revanchismo?”.
La excanciller Karen Longaric aseguró que Añez está detenida por algo que nunca ocurrió, y que se defiende de una justicia obediente al poder.
“Jeanine Añez está presa por algo que nunca sucedió y defendiéndose de una justicia obsecuente al poder político. En este infausto momento mi pensamiento y oraciones están con la ex presidenta constitucional y sus hijos. Los bolivianos no podemos quedarnos callados ante tanto oprobio”, expresó.
Por su parte, el exministro Yerko Núñez reapareció en las redes y dijo “basta” de menoscabar los derechos de Añez. Agregó que la justicia tarda, pero llega.
El Ministerio de Gobierno emitió un comunicado en el que señala que Añez recibe en el penal de Miraflores “toda la atención médica y facilidades constantes para garantizar sus derechos constitucionales a un debido proceso y al libre acceso a todos los mecanismos jurídicos de defensa, como es de conocimiento de la población y de los medios de comunicación”.
En el pronunciamiento, ese ministerio señala que “las condiciones de reclusión de la señora Jeanine Añez no representan ningún peligro para su salud” y anuncia que se hará una “prueba psiquiátrica”. “La señora Añez, al igual que todas las personas privadas de libertad y acusadas de delitos, recibe el trato que establecen las normas vigentes”.

Carlos Mesa, leader of the Citizen Community, called for the end of the “political imprisonment” against Añez, and that the former president defend herself in freedom.
“The government’s explanations about the state of former President Jeanine Añez are neither serious nor credible. The Permanent Assembly of Human Rights and Oacnudh, as independent entities, must verify her situation. I ask for the end of her political imprisonment. Let her defend herself in freedom,” tweeted.
Fernando Camacho, Santa Cruz governor and leader of Creemos, demanded respect for human rights and an end to the persecution. “The government of Luis Arce and his revenge policy is exceeding all limits. Over and over again they have groped the health of Jeanine Añez, in an inhuman behavior that is cruelty. We demand that the persecutions stop and that the human rights of political prisoners be respected!” he said.
Yesterday in La Paz a group of activists called for Añez’s freedom in the vicinity of the Miraflores prison. “Freedom for Jeanine!,” they yelled.

The Ministry of Government issued a statement in which it states that Añez receives in the Miraflores prison “all medical attention and constant facilities to guarantee her constitutional rights to due process and free access to all legal defense mechanisms, as known by the population and the media.”
In the pronouncement, that ministry indicates that “the conditions of confinement of Mrs. Jeanine Añez do not represent any danger to her health” and announces that a “psychiatric test” will be carried out. “Mrs. Añez, like all persons deprived of liberty and accused of crimes, receives the treatment established by current regulations.”
