They regret the government’s decision regarding tourists from Israel and the US
The tourism sector regrets the government’s decision to reestablish a visa for citizens of the United States and Israelis, a decision that will reduce tourism from those countries to Bolivia, the most affected regions will be La Paz, Rurrenabaque and Uyuni.

They argue that the measure taken by the national government negatively affects the flow of tourists from the United States of North America, as the main issuing country of travelers in the world, and from Israel, a country that over the years generated a flow of very important tourism for destinations such as La Paz, Rurrenabaque and Uyuni and makes Bolivia visible in the international tourism market as an unfriendly and unattractive destination to be visited.
“The government, having approved this measure, does not perceive the dramatic situation in the national tourism sector, which has been punished by the pandemic since the last administration. To the restrictive measures imposed in the country and the entire world to limit the movement of people and the regrowth that we are currently experiencing, they now impose visa requirements on travelers from the US and Israel,” they criticized in their statement.
The sector observes that the Government, instead of promoting the reactivation and alleviating the dramatic situation of tourism in the country, this measure contributes to deepening the unfortunate crisis in which tourism is plunged.
They consider that the measure has been taken without taking into account the negative economic impact represented by this restriction, since it severely affects the interests of the sector, which has been one of the most affected by the pandemic and is currently being debated in its struggle to survive, and it is the one that dynamizes the economy in an integral way, attracting foreign exchange and generating benefits, as well as sources of work.
They remind the Government that the country currently has air connection limitations and if we add this visa requirement to important source markets for Bolivia, it only causes disinterest in visiting, even when there are direct flights.
They emphasize that Bolivia is a country that has a rich offer of nature and living culture, elements that constitute a competitive advantage over neighboring countries, so they should eliminate all entry barriers and facilitate the arrival of citizens from all over the world to the national territory. .
According to the Supreme Decree (D.S.) it is a decision made under the principles of reciprocity. However, we consider that the current circumstances in which the world economies operate should give priority to stimulating elements of the economy that propitiate and encourage adequate conditions for the reactivation of inbound tourism through policies that generate the arrival of a greater flow of tourists to Bolivia, they argue.
Finally, they ensure that the measure, with absolute certainty, will negatively affect hundreds of thousands of people and companies that work directly and indirectly in the subsectors of the hotel industry, travel agencies, receptive tourism operators, autonomous territorial entities dedicated to community tourism and receiving rural community base tourism, which will reduce their income.

El sector del turismo lamenta la decisión del Gobierno de reestablecer visa para ciudadanos de Estados Unidos e israelitas, decisión que reducirá el turismo de esos países a Bolivia, las regiones más afectadas serán La Paz, Rurrenabaque y Uyuni.
La Cámara Nacional de Operadores de Turismo (Canotur), la Asociación Boliviana de Agencias de Viajes y Turismo (ABAVYT), la Cámara Boliviana de Hotelería (CBH), y la Asociación Boliviana de Agencias de Turismo Receptivo (ABATUR), la Organización Sindical Mixto de Transporte Turístico (OSMTT), el Colegio Nacional de Profesionales en Turismo de Bolivia (CONALTUR), la Federación Boliviana de Guías de Turismo (FEBOGUIT) y la Asociación Boliviana de Empresas Mayoristas y Representaciones de Tiurismo (ABEMART); entidades y actores representativos del turismo nacional, expresan a las autoridades del gobierno nacional su profunda preocupación y respetuosa posición de rechazo a la restitución de requerimiento de visado de ingreso al país para ciudadanos de los Estados Unidos de Norte América y de Israel, señala un comunicado del sector
Sostienen que la medida asumida por el gobierno nacional, afecta negativamente el flujo de turistas de Estados Unidos de Norte América, como el principal país emisor de viajeros en el mundo, y de Israel, país que a lo largo de los años generó un flujo de turismo muy importante para destinos como La Paz, Rurrenabaque y Uyuni y visibiliza a Bolivia en el mercado internacional del turismo como un destino poco amigable y no atractivo para ser visitado.
“El gobierno, al haber aprobado dicha medida, no percibe la situación dramática que vive el sector turístico nacional castigado por la pandemia desde la pasada gestión. A las medidas restrictivas impuestas en el país y el mundo entero para limitar el movimiento de personas y el rebrote que vivimos en la actualidad ahora nos imponen exigencias de visas a los viajeros de EEUU e Israel”, critican en su comunicado.
El sector observa que el Gobierno en lugar de propiciar la reactivación y aliviar la dramática situación del turismo en el país, esa medida contribuye a profundizar la lamentable crisis en la que se encuentra sumida el turismo.
Consideran que la medida, ha sido asumida sin tomar en cuenta el impacto económico negativo que representa esta restricción, ya que afecta de manera muy severa los intereses del sector, que ha sido uno de los más afectados por la pandemia y que actualmente se debate en su lucha por sobrevivir, y es el que dinamiza la economía de manera integral, atrayendo divisas y generando beneficios, así como fuentes de trabajo.
Le recuerdan al Gobierno que el país tiene actualmente limitaciones de conexiones aéreas y si sumamos esta exigencia de visas a mercados emisores importantes para Bolivia, solo provoca el desinterés en visitar, aun cuando existan vuelos directos.
Resaltan que Bolivia es un país que cuenta con una rica oferta de naturaleza y cultura viva, elementos que se constituyen una ventaja competitiva frente a países vecinos, entonces deberían eliminar toda traba de ingreso y facilitar la llegada a territorio nacional a ciudadanos de todo el mundo.
Según el D.S. es una decisión asumida bajo principios de reciprocidad. Sin embargo, consideramos que las actuales circunstancias en las que se desenvuelven las economías mundiales deberían primar elementos estimuladores de la economía que propicien e incentiven condiciones adecuadas para la reactivación del turismo receptivo a través de políticas que generen la llegada de un mayor flujo de turistas a Bolivia, sostienen.
Finalmente aseguran que la medida, con absoluta seguridad, afectará negativamente a centenares de miles de personas y empresas que trabajan directa e indirectamente en los subsectores de la hotelería, agencias de viaje, operadoras de turismo receptivo, entidades autónomas territoriales dedicadas al turismo comunitario y de base comunitaria rurales receptoras, que reducirán sus ingresos.
