Don’t be silly
It turns out, from everything we hear and read, that Bolivians do not now know what a coup is. Experts in the field until recently, we tried to confuse young people of what it is like to overthrow a president through a coup. It happens that the masistas disengage from reality, trying to convince public opinion that Evo Morales was thrown from power through a coup; a rare coup in Bolivia, in which the military demonstrated after the president fled. The cart before the oxen. The only certain thing is that Morales was frightened when he was discovered in his scandalous electoral fraud, he cowered when he saw the population outraged by his bad government, and, fearful, without even hearing a shot, he escaped abandoning everything.
I, with my years, remind them that Barrientos overthrew Paz Estenssoro by raising up the armed forces; Ovando overthrew Dr. Siles Salinas with a pronouncement from the Army; Banzer overthrew Torres after three days of fighting between the military; and Pereda shot down Banzer by raising the Air Force first; as Padilla overthrew Pereda; and Natusch to Guevara taking the tanks out onto the street; and García Meza, with the Army in full, to Mrs. Gueiler. The last coup that took place in Bolivia was against Sánchez de Lozada, but there, as in the 1952 revolution, the collapse of the Government occurred because the military stopped firing bullets, because, after days of fighting, they saw that all resistance would be useless in the face of the inevitable.
After one year of the events, now, like an act of magic, Evo Morales and the masistas appear, pointing out that they were expelled from the Palace by a military coup carried out by Luis Fernando Camacho and his father. The former president wants to make believe that he did not flee out of fear but because his life was in danger from a military and police uprising that Camacho would have caused, which is known to be not true but idiotic. Would Camacho be powerful enough to topple a 14-year-old chiefdom?
Evo Morales was overthrown by his excesses, his abuses, his cheatings, his egotism, which annoyed the people to the extreme of making them paralyze the entire country in the face of so much misgovernment and waste. Camacho was the leader of a great civic movement that began in Santa Cruz, it is true, but he was not Batman or Superman to sweep the Casa Grande del Pueblo or fly into the Burned Palace with the Bible. When that happened, the entire country supported his action and Morales was heading to Mexico, after having resigned and having made the entire chain of succession resign with the manifest purpose of leaving the nation in chaos.
There appeared, in the face of the power vacuum, in order not to betray democracy, the figure of Jeanine Áñez, because she was constitutionally obliged to assume command of it. Morales was no longer there and no one was ruling. What there were, were his supporters who began to provoke countless excesses in El Alto and Cochabamba, against individuals and State property, invoking civil war. Only then did the armed forces act with a legal order from the president. In other words, the armed forces took to the streets in strict compliance with the Magna Carta.
That the return of the Masista prosecutor has taken place is another story. From now on, some prosecutors will turn their jackets around again and repress as the MAS taught them, that is, paying the favors received with obscenity, making false, absurd, outlandish accusations, such as the process that has been instituted against José Luis Camacho and the liability lawsuit they want to bring to former president Jeanine Áñez. “It is not revenge but justice,” say the masistas when they are accused of being in a real hunt for adversaries as in the times of the Hotel Las Américas. But we all know that it is pure revenge and that it is the beginning of another revenge that responds to a long list that Morales surely has kept under his pillow.
Que no se hagan los tontos
Resulta, por todo lo que oímos y leemos, que los bolivianos no sabemos ahora lo que es un golpe de estado. Expertos en la materia hasta hace poco, tratamos de confundir a la gente joven de lo que es derrocar a un presidente mediante un cuartelazo. Sucede que los masistas están hechos los del otro viernes, intentando convencer a la opinión pública que Evo Morales fue echado del poder mediante un golpe; un golpe raro en Bolivia, en el que los militares se manifestaron después que el mandatario huyó. La carreta delante de los bueyes. Lo único cierto es que Morales se asustó al verse descubierto en su escandaloso fraude electoral, se acobardó al ver a la población indignada por su mal gobierno, y, miedoso, sin oír siquiera un tiro, escapó abandonándolo todo.
Yo, con mis años, les recuerdo que Barrientos derrocó a Paz Estenssoro levantando a las FFAA; Ovando derrocó al Dr. Siles Salinas con un pronunciamiento del Ejército; Banzer tumbó a Torres luego de tres días de combates entre militares; y Pereda derribó a Banzer alzando primero a la Fuerza Aérea; como a Pereda lo derrocó Padilla; y Natusch a Guevara sacando los tanques a la calle; y García Meza, con el Ejército en pleno, a la señora Gueiler. El último golpe que se dio en Bolivia fue contra Sánchez de Lozada, pero ahí, como en la revolución de 1952, el derrumbe del Gobierno se produjo debido a que los militares dejaron de meter bala, porque, tras días de refriega, vieron que toda resistencia sería inútil ante lo inevitable.
Transcurrido un año de los acontecimientos, ahora, como un acto de magia, aparece Evo Morales y los masistas señalando que fueron expulsados del Palacio por un golpe militar ejecutado por Luis Fernando Camacho y por su padre. Quiere el ex presidente hacer creer que no huyó de miedo sino porque su vida estaba en peligro ante una sublevación militar y policial que habría propiciado Camacho, lo que se sabe que no es cierto sino idiota. ¿Camacho sería tan poderoso como para tumbar a un cacicazgo de 14 años?
A Evo Morales lo derribaron sus desmesuras, sus abusos, sus trampas, su egolatría, que fastidió a la gente al extremo de hacerla paralizar el país entero ante tanto desgobierno y despilfarro. Camacho fue el líder de un gran movimiento cívico que se inició en Santa Cruz, es cierto, pero no era Batman ni Superman como para barrer la Casa Grande del Pueblo ni entrarse volando con la Biblia al Palacio Quemado. Cuando eso sucedió el país entero respaldaba su acción y Morales estaba rumbo a México, luego de haber renunciado y haber hecho dimitir a toda la cadena sucesoria con el propósito manifiesto de dejar a la nación en caos.
Ahí apareció, ante el vacío de poder, para no traicionar a la democracia, la figura de Jeanine Áñez, porque constitucionalmente le correspondió obligatoriamente asumir el mando. Ya no estaba Morales y no había nadie gobernando. Lo que hubo fueron sus partidarios que empezaron a provocar desmanes sin cuento en El Alto y en Cochabamba, contra particulares y bienes del Estado, invocando a la guerra civil. Recién entonces actuaron las FFAA con una orden legal de la señora presidente. Es decir que las FFAA salieron a las calles cumpliendo rigurosamente con la Carta Magna.
Que el retorno del fiscalato masista se haya producido es otro cantar. A partir de ahora algunos fiscales volverán a darse vuelta la chaqueta y a reprimir como les enseñó el MAS, es decir, pagando los favores recibidos con obscenidad, armando acusaciones falsas, absurdas, descabelladas, como el proceso que se ha instaurado contra José Luis Camacho y el juicio de responsabilidades que quieren entablarle a la ex presidente Jeanine Áñez. “No es venganza sino justicia”, dicen los masistas cuando se les acusa de que están en una verdadera cacería de adversarios como en las épocas del Hotel Las Américas. Pero todos sabemos que es venganza pura y que es el inicio de otra revancha que responde a una larga lista que seguramente Morales tiene guardada bajo su almohada.
