Scalating crime rates in Bolivia

This cartoon is from El Diario, 11/11/11. It portrays an almost general perception of Bolivian citizens regarding police effectiveness while combating the crime.

Here, a recently mugged woman is shouting “get him, get him!…” as the robber wonders in between puzzled overweight policemen. Police needs a major re-engineering to cope with crime.

Crime rates are escalating throughout the country and peaceful days in lovely Bolivia are almost gone. There is no day that news report hideous crimes, robberies at plain daylight. Bolivian citizens and visitors should take precautions while walking in crowded areas or dangerous neighborhoods. If you are in a Bolivian city for the first time; please do not be afraid of asking, most of us pretty much know where is dangerous, ask any of us, we are friendly.
