This week, two hit men shot one District Attorney in Cobija and another a lawyer in Santa Cruz; both repulsive actions show how crime is escalating in Bolivia. In an unfortunate declaration, Justice Minister Nilda Copa said that behind these attacks are the American Embassy and the narcotraffickers. Copa’s arguments were confusing, unclear and did not provide names.

It has become common practice that current government’s public officials say whatever comes to their minds, without proofs or clear reasoned arguments. A real shame. As a proud Bolivian I apologize to the world, thank you.
