Reveals he warned him it was a crime

Soliz accuses Lara of receiving toys from Chinese gold traffickers

The former official pointed to Lara for receiving handouts from traffickers.

Former Vice Presidency official Jaime Soliz stated this Tuesday that Edmand Lara has received toys to give away from Chinese gold traffickers, despite having been warned that doing so was a crime.

“One day miners who traffic gold show up, who are of Chinese origin. They began bringing gifts to the Vice Presidency—toys so that he could give them away. I told him: ‘you cannot accept handouts; that is the commission of a crime.’ He didn’t listen to me,” Soliz recounted in a video.

The lawyer said that a “Chinese man with the last name Huang” would be the one who delivered these gifts.

“He (Lara) went ahead and started receiving the toys that he has been distributing. In other words, he doesn’t even know the origin of the Chinese traffickers who were bringing him these gifts,” he said.

Two weeks ago, Lara received a donation of 10,000 toys for Christmas. At the event, it was announced that the toys were delivered “voluntarily” in the name of a person named Germán Huang. The Vice Presidency, through a press release, identified those who delivered the toys as “Brian and Chang.”

Soliz asserted that Lara is not fit for the position because “every day he continues committing crimes that will bring him consequences sooner or later.”

He believes that the Vice President “will be presented with an accusatory proposition and will end up out of office, simply because he is not responsible for his actions.”

He also questioned the Vice President’s psychological fitness and said he would not pass an evaluation. He revealed that he suggested Lara undergo such an exam, but he refused.

Finally, Soliz asked him to step aside so as not to harm democracy.

“Do it for the country. Resign. You are not fit for this office. It is definitely far too big for you. At this moment you do not have sufficient intellectual or psychological preparation to withstand the stress,” he stated.
