JP Velasco hints at Lara: “Santa Cruz doesn’t need photos handing out gift bags; when a politician does that, it’s because he failed at his real job”

The former vice-presidential candidate questioned that the current leader campaigns on his TikTok account instead of presenting a plan for the region.

On Monday night, Vice President Edmand Lara posted a TikTok video showing gifts for the children of Yapacaní. This Tuesday, his former rival in the national elections, Juan Pablo (JP) Velasco, hinted at that post, stating that when a political figure resorts to that kind of action, it is because they have “failed” in their job.

“Santa Cruz doesn’t need photos handing out gift bags. When a politician does that, it’s because he failed at his real job,” Velasco wrote on his Facebook account.

For the Libre alliance’s former candidate, these types of posts seek to show a reality that does not exist and attempt to cover up the lack of effective initiatives.

On the contrary, Velasco argued that what Santa Cruz needs is “vision.” “It needs serious and technical work. It needs a clear plan to connect Santa Cruz with the world, to turn it into a city and a department that stand as regional benchmarks of progress,” he added.

In his video, Lara states that he made a commitment to the residents of Puerto Grether, in the Ichilo province (Santa Cruz), to bring toys to the children affected by the floods. He said the gifts will arrive this Sunday. The video has accumulated more than 245,000 views.

Regarding this, Velasco stated that “it also doesn’t need photos of solidarity the day after a disaster; if the disaster happened, it’s because he didn’t do his job either.”
