Despite the commitment made at the last multiparty meeting, no political party has accredited a technical delegate to oversee the electoral roll, according to Fernando Arteaga, Secretary of the Chamber of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE), on Monday.

According to the statement from the “Fourth Multiparty and Interinstitutional Meeting for Democracy,” held on June 12 in Santa Cruz, “the political organizations commit to accrediting technical delegates before the Supreme Electoral Tribunal for the review of the electoral roll and the TREP.” This has not happened so far.

Arteaga regretted that, despite recurring criticisms of the roll during each electoral process, the parties show no interest. “Although some parties or some civil society bodies question the electoral roll, it is clear that none of the political parties has shown the necessary interest or fulfilled this Santa Cruz agreement. No party has accredited any technician,” the official told El Deber Radio.

He added that, in any case, on the day of the election, scheduled for August 17, the list of eligible voters by table will be provided to the parties “so that they can carry out their oversight and verification, as a demonstration of transparency from the Electoral Body.”
