57.7% of respondents do not have a firm decision and could change their mind on election day, according to unofficial data from the national survey released this Wednesday.

Sixty days ahead of the general elections, only 42.3% of those surveyed are fully decided on who they will vote for, while 57.7% do not have a firm decision and could change their mind on election day, set for August 17, according to unofficial data from the first survey conducted by Spie Consulting SRL for Grupo EL DEBER.

The high proportion of undecided voters reflects an electoral scenario in which no candidate has guaranteed majority support.

The statistical work was based on 2,500 in-person interviews, conducted in urban and rural areas of the country’s nine departments between June 7 and 14. According to the technical details, the study has a 95% confidence level and a national margin of error of less than 2.16%.

By department

Disaggregated data show that La Paz has the highest percentage of undecided voters at 62.2%, followed by Oruro with 62%, Cochabamba with 61.1%, and Chuquisaca with 60.2%.

In the other regions, although the percentage of undecided voters is below 60%, it still exceeds 50%. In Tarija, 59.8% have yet to decide whom or how to vote for; in Potosí, it’s 54%; in Pando, 52%; and in Santa Cruz, 51.3%. Only in Beni does the figure fall below the threshold, with 49.9% of voters still without a definitive choice.

Capitals and by population strata

In the capital cities, only 43.1% of respondents have decided their vote, while 56.9% could still change their mind.

In localities with more than 10,000 registered voters, the proportion of undecided is even higher: 63.7% have not made a decision, versus 36.3% who have.

In regions with 2,000 to 10,000 registered voters, 57.3% are undecided and 42.7% have a defined preference. In the smallest localities, with fewer than 2,000 registered voters, 54.5% are still undecided, while 45.5% have already made up their mind.
