On Monday, UN Women launched the second edition of the Extreme Women program, aimed at challenging gender stereotypes and promoting progress toward a more equal society.

The initiative works to bring visibility to women who break through traditional role barriers in various fields and professions.

Featured in this edition are Marsia Taha, awarded Best Female Chef in Latin America 2024; Olympic swimmer Karen Torrez; Jiu-Jitsu champion Francielly Ruiz; climber Dora Magueño; Guadalupe Torres, athlete and Olympic competitor; María Celeste Añez, taekwondo practitioner; the Imillaskate collective, dedicated to skateboarding; qualified welder Luz Mamani; Martha Quispe, an industrial electricity technician; agronomist Natalia Miserendino; and Darly Villca, an electromechanical operator at Mi Teleférico.

They will all be present this Friday, starting at 9:00 a.m., at the Park of Cultures and Mother Earth in La Paz, located next to the Red Cable Car, where they will discuss their careers, and some will perform demonstrations.

This is the second edition of the Extreme Women program. In 2023, the first edition by UN Women also showcased the strength and determination of women in various fields and activities.

This year, with support from BancoSol and Mi Teleférico, the event expands with new activities, including photography exhibitions, a discussion forum, and a “circuit” at the Park of Cultures.
