Correo del Sur:

This Sunday, a new paleontological discovery was reported in the municipality of Mojocoya, the seventh so far this year. Although it is not yet known precisely what species the fossil remains belong to, there are hypotheses that it could be a xenarthra.

“They are bones apparently from a pelvis. But being isolated and mixed with other things, it confuses us to identify the species. In any case, we are working with a hypothesis that it could be a pelvis of a xenarthra, but now we have to verify what type of xenarthra it could be; maybe a glyptodont or a sloth,” the plastic artist, university professor and researcher in the area of paleontology, Omar Medina, informed CORREO DEL SUR.

He clarified that in the next few hours it will only be known exactly what species the remains belong to.

Medina indicated that this is the seventh paleological discovery in Mojocoya so far in 2023, so special work is being done on the conservation and preservation of the fossils.
