Outstanding Bolivian entrepreneurs of 2023 appear on the Bloomberg Línea list: Marcelo Claure, Rosario Paz Gutiérrez and Martín Escobari

Bolivia is proud to have three renowned business people who have managed to stand out on Bloomberg Línea’s list of the 500 most influential people in Latin America 2023. 

These Bolivian entrepreneurs are being recognized for their notable contributions in the financial, corporate and entrepreneurial worlds, and are playing a crucial role in driving the economic development of Bolivia and Latin America.

Marcelo Claure, who currently leads his family office, Claure Group, with capital of an impressive $2 billion, continues to work tirelessly to support Latin American technology startups. 

In an effort to foster innovation in the region, Claure has established his own venture capital fund called Bicycle Capital in 2023, with the goal of raising $500 million.

The fund has already secured commitments worth $440 million, including $200 million from Mubadala Investment Co. and another $200 million from Claure Group. His dedication to technological entrepreneurship promises a lasting impact on the Latin American business scene.

María del Rosario Paz Gutiérrez 

María del Rosario Paz Gutierrez, president of Nexocorp, a company that encompasses the Farmacorp, Dr. Osvaldo, Amarket, Pizza Hut chains, with more than 200 stores in Bolivia, is widely recognized as an influential and respected leader in Latin America.

Her tireless work in the expansion of these chains has made her a great promoter of entrepreneurship. Her leadership and commitment are fundamental to the economic development of the country.

As executive president, Paz Gutiérrez led the transformation of the Farmacorp pharmacy chain into the Nexocorp corporation, which connects different retail areas and services in various areas with the Farmacorp, Dr. Osvaldo and Amarket supermarket brands, in the area of retail medicines and food; Pizza Hut, the group’s first international franchise in the gastronomic sector and Bendita Inversiones, which marks the foray into the real estate field. In total, the corporation has 218 stores in operation in the nine departmental capitals and eleven intermediate cities, three distribution centers located in the main axis and provides direct employment to 2,750 employees.

Martín Escobari

Martín Escobari, co-president and head of Latin America at General Atlantic, a global investment firm, has been recognized as Person of the Year by the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce in 2023
