Invite to the International Festival Irupanapente 2023
Dragons, clowns, superheroes, transforms, among other characters are preparing to fly at the Irupanapente 2023 International Festival, which will take place on July 14, 15, and 16.
The setting for this activity is the Churiaca hill, located five kilometers from Irupana, in the Yungas of the department of La Paz.
The person in charge of communication for the event, Ericka Peñaranda, informed Los Tiempos that the extreme sport has been held every year, for 18 years, in which pilots from Bolivia, Switzerland, Brazil, Argentina, the United States and Chile participate. “The Bolivian Paragliding Federation, the Cochabamba Departmental Paragliding Association, the Cernícalos group, the Irupana Mayor’s Office, among other institutions, organize this event,” said Peñaranda in time to highlight the participation of Jhusbel Ruiz Luther, president of the Paragliding Federation from Bolivia, who is one of the pioneers of practicing extreme sports.
The call is open to national and international pilots, so far there are about 40 registered participants. Categories include the Costume Contest, Precision Flight Competition, and XC Flight Competition.
“This sport allows you to be free like birds,” said Ruiz, who has practiced paragliding for 26 years, and since he was 15, for him it is a way of life. Also, he considers it a safe extreme sport.
He said that the event is characterized by adventure, adrenaline and creativity, because each one of the participants makes a striking, allegorical, colorful costume, and taking off with that is very complicated. “That’s what the judges are for, because in order for them to give the prize to one of the pilots in a costume, one has to rate the difficulty the pilot has to take off in a costume, and the allegory must be very attractive in the air”, he added, in time to invite the population to said festival or dare to fly anywhere in Bolivia.
The paraglider is classified as an aircraft without an engine, which can move through the air and fly distances, you can also do stunts. You must take off from any mountain, and you land in an open place.
Likewise, the temperature and the time to fly should be taken into account, since specialists recommend in the morning and if there is rain or a lot of wind, you should not glide.

El escenario para dicha actividad es la colina de Churiaca, situada a cinco kilómetros de Irupana, en los Yungas del departamento de La Paz.
La encargada de comunicación del evento, Ericka Peñaranda informó a Los Tiempos que el deporte extremo se realiza cada año, desde hace 18 años atrás, en la cual participan pilotos de Bolivia, Suiza, Brasil, Argentina, Estados Unidos y Chile. “La Federación de Parapentistas de Bolivia, la Asociación Departamental de Parapente Cochabamba, el grupo Cernícalos, la Alcaldía de Irupana, entre otras instituciones organizan dicho evento”, dijo Peñaranda a tiempo de resaltar la participación Jhusbel Ruiz Luther, presidente de la Federación de Parapentistas de Bolivia, quien es uno de los pioneros de practicar el deporte extremo.
La convocatorio está abierta para pilotos nacionales e internaciones, hasta el momento se tiene cerca de 40 participantes inscritos. Entre las categorías se tiene el Concurso de disfraces, Competencia de vuelos de precisión y Competencia de vuelos XC.
“Este deporte te permite ser libre como las aves”, dijo Ruiz, quien desde hace 26 años practica el parapente, y desde los 15 años, para él es una forma de vida. Además, que lo considera un deporte extremo seguro.
Dijo que el evento se caracteriza por la aventura, adrenalina y creatividad, porque cada uno de los participantes elaboran un disfraz llamativo, alegórico, colorido, y despegar con eso es bien complicado. “Para eso están los jueces, porque para que puedan darle el premio a uno de los pilotos con un disfraz, tiene que calificar uno la dificultad que tiene el piloto para despegar con un disfraz, y la alegoría debe ser bien vistosa en el aire”, agregó, a tiempo de invitar a la población a dicho festival o animarse a volar en cualquier parte de Bolivia.
El parapente está catalogado como una aeronave sin motor, que se puede desplazar por el aire y volar distancias, también se pueden hacer acrobacias. Se debe despegar de cualquier montaña, y aterrizas en un lugar abierto.
Asimismo, se debe tomar en cuenta la temperatura y la hora para volar, ya que los especialistas recomiendan en la mañana y si hay lluvia o mucho viento, no se debe planear.
