After the declaration of Evo Morales as persona non grata in the city of El Alto, by leaders of the Regional Workers Union (COR), opposition parliamentarians assured that it is a sign of the decrease in political wealth and demonstrates the generalized discontent of the population towards the cocalero leader, a figure that is repeated in several regions of the country.

These determinations were interpreted as a sign of the wear and tear of the political figure of Morales, who is constantly the protagonist of acts in which citizens, leaders and authorities express contempt for him.

For the deputy for the Citizen Community, Alberto Astorga, the signals emitted from the city of El Alto are a reflection of the low acceptance that Morales currently has, and a sample of the constant decline in his political aspirations.

“It has been shown that Evo Morales is resisted throughout the country, practically in El Alto they do not want to receive him because there is awareness that 21-F has been violated and as a result of that the 2019 crisis occurred,” said the legislator from La Paz. .

In this sense, he assured that El Alto gave a lot to Morales and practically, during his government, he has given nothing to this city, which is why it is currently resisted in the same way that occurs in other points. from the country. “It is enough to remember the incident in Potosí with the chair-blow,” he said.

For this reason, he affirmed that the cocalero leader only has two ways left to continue with his political life, the first is to opt for “self-exile” in the Chapare region, or leave the country appealing for “asylum” in States whose governments share his ideological line, like Mexico, since practically in the different departments of Bolivia he will no longer be well received by the citizens.

In this regard, Deputy Carlos Alarcón, argued that the political wealth of the cocalero leader is decreasing day by day, a fact that should be taken advantage of by the opposition to unify criteria and propose an option that can be imposed in the next electoral elections.
“Day that passes, the political wealth of the former president is declining, what the political, civic and citizen opposition have to do is take measures so that they can have a solid candidacy in 2025, which will win solidly over the MAS, in addition to achieve a radical transformation of the justice system,” he said.

Alarcón warned that the present political situation must be analyzed responsibly and be careful that announcements about measures such as the recall against President Arce do not become a kind of lifeline for the interests of Morales. “What is clear is that the day that passes does not add support but decreases,” he said.

From the ruling party, the versions handled by opponents were ruled out, arguing that the cocalero leader prioritizes meetings to promote unity, so in the case of the city of El Alto his presence was ruled out to avoid possible confrontation scenarios promoted by opposing leaders.

“We would like him to be in our acts but we know that he will not come because there are threats from some leaders who are willing to humiliate him (…). What we Alteños have to prioritize is to comply with the works that have been committed to El Alto,” said Deputy Renán Cabezas.

On Monday, Marcelo Mayta, executive of the Central Obrera Regional (COR) of El Alto, reported that after an enlargement of the “Assembly of the Alteñidad” this instance decided not to invite Morales, nor allow his presence in the protocol acts for the 6th of March. “During his government, he did not attend the parties, he preferred to travel during those dates; second, we consider him persona non grata because he abandoned the State in 2019 and left us orphans; third, the constant criticism of the President’s government.
